A little help, a little favor
A little love, a light of kindness, a lot of flavor
"How am I gonna feed the kids today?"
Her thoughts were
I never knew that, I just wanted to be a good friend
More than just a maid she was
We were close
A lot older but our bond had it's overdose
She always had a reason to smile
Even when unwell, joy was her cloak
I felt she was tired and needed something cold to soak
That evening was cool and so was my temperament
So I dipped into my pocket for a bill as clean as a peppermint
I give it to her kindly without her request
She gave me a hug to my greatest surprise
And like an addict, a rush of euphoria shone from her eyes
"Thank you very much Bio,
You just answered my prayers.
I asked God for some assistance,
I never thought he would use you.
Now my kids can find a warm meal;
At least a night or two.
But none of this would be tonight if God hadn't created you."
I felt way more
Way more than I would if I had blown that bill
Blown it on myself
My selfish benefit
My human desires
I never knew her kids were hungry
To me such was another internet fable
But a moment as that,
I was glad that I helped put food on the table
Be kind, the rush is greater than the greed
Why have a feast when all some want is to feed
This privileged kid never knew how much this woman was in need
But he's glad he never gave in to greed
