Lionkit opened her eyes for the first time. She found herself in a feather lined nest under a roof of brambles. Sunlight dappled through the holes and onto the ground. She looked around and saw her siblings and her mother. "Look mama! Lionkit finally opened her eyes!" A small gray kit named Wolf kit exclaimed. "The extra awakens..." Lionkit's sister Icekit a small white kit and their mother Dawnflower sarcastically say in unison. Lionkit blankly stares at Dawnflower and says inside her head,"Extra? But I'm your kit too, just like them." "What are you waiting for mousebrain? Come out and do something." Icekit taunted. Lionkit not knowing what mousebrain meant, casually climbed out of the nest. She padded over to Icekit and asked," What's a mousebrain?" "It's what you are, mousebrain." Icekit replied. "I meant what does it mean?" Lionkit asked again. "Stupid. Or in your language, not smart or bububububu." Icekit said rudly. "Can you please stop calling me that? It's not very nice." Lionkit asked politely. "So what?" Icekit snarled "What do you mean so what? Stop it!" Lionkit hissed agitatedly. "Lionkit,go outside now! And don't come back till it's time to feed you ya little termite!" Lionkit's tail drooped as she walked out, hurt by her mother's words. Wolfkit followed her and said sympathetically," Their usually like that to their youngest kits. Just try to ignore them." Say,wanna play moss ball or somethin?" Wolfkit suggested. "What's that?" Lionkit asked curious. "It's a game you play with a ball of moss. I'll teach you!" Wolfkit padded over to a moss ball and brought it to his sister. "You bat the ball around to eachother. Then there's also the keep away and hunting practice versions. Here, I'll start." He batted the ball at her. Lionkit batted it back. They kept playing until Badgerface, their father and the deputy showed up. "Hello Wolfkit." Badgerface greeted him. "And who's this?" He said turning to face Lionkit. "That's Lionkit. She opened her eyes today." Wolfkit replied. "Oh...I thought my daughter would look more like me or her mother..." Badgerface said dissapointed and suspicious. "Well,go ask the elders to tell you a story. I'll bring some food to Dawnflower." He said then guided them to the elders den and left to the nursery.
