Chapter 24

At The Library

A book dropped to my foot.

I clapped my hand to my mouth immediately as I try to suppress my scream. The librarian will kill me if I make so much as a whimper.

Cursing the book, I picked it up and shove it back at the bookshelves. Stupid book.

I limped quietly to the next aisle. What I saw shocked me.

I'm here again. At the library.

I turn around. I don't care if my foot's still hurting, I don't want to be here. I run towards the door, not minding my aching toes.

I stretch out my hand for the doorknob ....

"JUNG!"

Krystal woke up with a start.

She can hear her classmates giggling quietly in the background. Slowly, she lifts her head up only to find a very pissed Madam Chu.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I bother your sleep Ms. Jung?" she asked in a sweet lovely voice her students never thought she has.

"Don't worry. You can continue your slumber ....in DETENTION!!" Madam Chu pointed her index finger at the door, her eyes wider than the round frame of her glasses.

Krystal apologetically grabbed her things. Kai gave her an it's-your-fault look when their eyes meet. She glared at him in return. How dare him!

She went out of the classroom and headed to detention room.

She can't believe it! She got detention! She never gets detention! Krystal is a good student with a good record. Now she can kiss that innocent record goodbye.

She can't believe she actually fell asleep in the middle of her class! She can name a few people (daemon) to blame but what good it would do? It would not make her detention disappear, would they?

She's trying to recall her dream. It has something to do with her toes, she's sure of it.

What was it again?

The bell rings, indicating the classes are over. Students started coming out of their classrooms. Krystal instantly spotted her daemon friends (it would be hard not to notice their glowing tattoos and colored eyes in the sea of black-eyed students).

"Baekhyun! Chen! Chanyeol!" she calls them before entering the detention room. The three daemons turned to look at her. Some of the students looked as well. It's still unusual for other students to mingle with the so-called 'Cullens' let alone call them by their names.

"Hi Krystal!" Chen greets her as they walk towards her spot.

"Hey buddy. Ready to go library hopping?" Baekhyun asks with his usual smile.

Krystal finds it hard to meet their eyes. She feels guilty. "Uhm, uh, here's the thing ...."

Chanyeol's eyes shifted from Krystal's hesitant expression to the sign at the door behind her. "You landed yourself in detention?!"

She sighed, defeated and ashamed of herself. "I'm sorry." she said with a frown.

"You got detention? How on earth did that happen?" Baekhyun asks. He can't remember his friend ever getting in detention back in middle school when he was still living with the humans. It doesn't seem like her.
