Author’s note: This chapter’s going to be a bit confusing, but stick with me here. I’ll explain it all at the end.

Allison’s Subconscious POV

He woke up with a start. He was using her body. He was using our body. And when we, or our body died, he would take over another body. They use it to track how many lives they lived. He told us this. Not intentionally. But he told us through his thoughts that it was time to awaken. That there were others like him around. That he needed to find them. But you never know if a demon is telling the truth. Are we right?

Of course, he told me other things too. He told us that we could have as much knowledge as we wanted, but he would make us forget when he went back to sleep. He said that he doesn’t have a name. And he doesn’t have a gender. But we can call it a he, just to make it easier.

He just said that he had a purpose and needed to fulfill it. But he was using us to do it. We don’t know much, and neither does he. He just knows that this is his first life, and that whenever he wants to be awoken, he takes control over us. It’s supposed to be like a patient going into surgery. The surgeons ‘give the heart a break’, and let the machine take over. It takes over the job of the heart. It’s like that with us. Except, he is the surgeons and the machine. He decides when he wants to take over. And he decides what to do. We simply just fall asleep, unaware of our surroundings and our actions that he is doing. And that’s what he’s doing right now.

We’re stretching first but then he makes us get up and go downstairs. We walk outside and he takes off sprinting.

He’s happy. He goes a bit faster, making us pump our legs harder. He feels free. But then he remembers what he’s supposed to be doing.

He’s searching. He’s searching for ‘the others’. That’s all he’ll tell us. Or rather, that’s all he knows.

It continues on for a few hours. He keeps running. He keeps searching. And he’s quite the whole time. But he has this presence around him. He feels mad. He can’t find ‘the others’. He gives up eventually. And once he stops running, our legs feel sore. The adrenaline wore off quickly. The sky is dark and he is tired. He stops right where we are, which is outside of our house. And he falls asleep.

We wake up. And we can’t remember.

-------------------------------------------

Short chapter, I know. But it’s important. So recap time! The POV was in Allison’s mind. So it wasn’t her directly, but it was her subconscious. The He was the demon that’s inside her. This is his first time in a human, and he stays there until they die, and then he moves onto another.  It’s called a life and they use is to track how old they are. So if a demon has lived  in a person 9 times then they’re 9 years old, pretty much. So, that should clear it up. If you have any questions, just ask! (:
