Chapter 24- Ryan

Ryan's POV:

I opened the envelope. A check from Mr. James P. Reese was inside. I pulled it out to check the amount. $5000!!!!!!! Holy shit!!!! My eyes widened and I blinked several times. Was this guy for real???? I mean he said it was a well paying job but I mean like damn. Also in the envelope was a handwritten message:

If you send me the receipts I will pay back everything you spent on dates, presents, etc. Just keep my little girl happy and you will get your check each month. Please try to get my wife to like you. The job description was perfect boyfriend and that little fact is not helping you.

I hope the amount was satisfying. Do not expect more. Remember what I said about keeping her happy. You break her heart and the deal is off.

Damn this guy is insane. Who pays someone to date their kid anyway? Not that I'm complaining or anything. I really need this money for college. My mom is a single parent who works her ass off to pay our bills each month. My dad is a jackass that left us for some hot model chick when I was 8. He wants to help my mom pay for college. My brother Nick already took his offer and is making plans to go to NYU next year. I refuse to let my dick of a dad pay for anything. If he thinks paying for college is going to make me all of a sudden okay with him leaving, he is fucking stupid. He tore our family apart for some dumb blonde that dumped him within 3 years. And he even tried to come back after she left him. "Lacey please. I'm so sorry for what I did. You have to forgive me." I shut the door in his face. He didn't know about my mom almost jumping off our balcony after he left. He didn't know that little 8 year old me had to pull her back. Nick says I'm stupid for not taking free money, but I don't want to owe my dad anything. He could give me all the money he has and I still wouldn't forgive him.

I pushed away my angry thoughts on my dad and walked to my room. My phone buzzed on the table and I read the message.

Hey babe(: How has your day been? I'm still at the hospital. We don't know what exactly caused the miscarriage yet, but the baby is definitely dead. Becca is really messed up about the whole thing which I guess is understandable since she was the one that had to help get him out the bathroom. We have Claire's trial tomorrow too. Can you please come? I don't know if I'll be able to get through it without you.

Fuck. I think I really do deserve that $5000 a month. I mean this girl is at a hospital for a once pregnant trannie and now wants me to go with her to her best friend's trial. They are tiny little freshman for god's sake!! Being the perfect boyfriend to a girl with more problems than Lindsay Lohan is so fucking hard!! But I need the money. I texted her back.

Yes I can come to the trial. What time is it? Don't stay at the hospital too long ok? You and everyone else have spent way too much time there recently and honestly Mark isn't really your problem. I'm fine babe, but the day has been really boring without you here(;

Sickeningly sweet enough? Yep. I pressed send and turned my eyes toward my TV. I had just started playing Halo when my phone buzzed again. Ughhhhh just go away Vivian!!!!!!!!

<3 Maybe we can go someplace for dinner if Claire is proven not guilty? Meet me at the court house at 10:00 tomorrow morning. I know you are worried, but we are all connected to Mark and his baby indirectly and with Rebecca still freaking out it doesn't feel right to leave. The doctor is coming in to let us know more about Mark. Ttyl. I love you.

Thank god! Now I can play my video games in peace. I texted a quick "love you too. Dinner sounds great. I'll see you at 10 tomorrow." I really don't want to go sit through hours of court case nonsense for a girl I don't even give a fuck about. And then I have to act in love with her for dinner. Needing money for college really sucks.

A/N: So really short compared to my usual chapters. Yes Ryan is getting paid by my dad to date me :'( It's terrible. And Mark miscarried Scott's but actually Dakota's baby because he was taking testosterone. Anyway please comment and vote!!! We love getting feedback!!!
