Things aren't always as they seem, mystery and danger surrounds Aurora and her companions Sentraya, Mau, Nara, Blade, Rouge, Alex,Kystetra, and Xavier. Dragons have been extinct for over 1,000 years, some believe that there are still few in existenc...
"Blade wait!!!" I cried grabbing my brother's shirt trying to pull him back into the room. Tears were forming in my eyes, but I managed to hold them back. "You can't go! If you fight then you'll die! Blade you can't do that to me!!!"
"Alex I don't have time for this! I'm a trained warrior; I'm not like those other army men, I'm better. You know that. I have to help them. Rouge already out there and so is big sis'. I can't just stay here." He said pushing me off of him and back into the room. He spoke in a soft, sweet voice to calm me down, but it only upset me more.
"Then take me with you! You've taught me some moves; I can fight! Let me go!!!" I practically yelled. I tried to run to him again, but this time, he snapped.
"NO!!! STAY HERE!" He stomped his foot on the ground making the sound echo off the walls. I was stunned for a moment. Long enough for him to run off. I knew he didn't mean it. He was always the nicest to me. Kysteria was always rather strict and Rouge sometimes scared me. Blade was only doing this to protect me. But I didn't want his protection. I didn't need his protection. I may be young, but I swung a dagger pretty well. A couple of tears started rolling down my face as I ran out into the hall only to see that Blade wasn't there. Blade was already gone.
"Blade!" I shouted as I took off down the hall. The light of sun outside was becoming brighter and brighter as I got closer to the exit. I could hear the sounds of metal clashing against metal and the perishing screams of dying men.
"Stop!" A guard said grabbing me by the arm and pulling me back away from the battle.
"You can't fight, it's too dangerous." Another guard said standing in front of the exit, blocking the light.
"But I can fight! I can!!! You have to let me go!!!" I tried to run past them but they caught me and threw me back in with ease.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?! Your just a kid! You won't be able to do crap out there!!!" The guard yelled.
"It's best you stay in here; where you'll be out of everyone's way!" The other guard shouted the last part loudly making me burst out in tears.
"But- I- have to fight!!!" I cried in between sobs. Normally I wasn't a cryer. But my family was out there; possibly even dead already. And I can't help them. I can't do a thing!
Just then, there was a sharp hissing sound that seemed to pierced the air around them. It was the strangest thing I had ever felt. The guards seemed confused too. My breathing became more heavy as I struggled to gain enough oxygen. What is going on?! I thought as the oxygen in the air was somehow sucked away and left with a radiant heat. When the hissing stopped, there was a moment of silence; then, an ear blasting howl shook the walls around them and echoed out over the earth. My vision blurred with dancing colors of green and white as I almost fainted from the searing heat now burning my skin.I heard the blaze of wildfire from outside and anguished cries of the fighters. I opened my eyes upon hearing a clang of metal against the stone floor. The guards collapsed onto the ground; the metal armor they wore seemed to be warped by the heat. Even the walls seemed to be bent and distorted. I looked down at my hands that were starting to blister from heat, but I didn't feel the pain. Right now, all my attention was on the monster before me. It stood over forty feet tall. Its tail smashed rocks and tore down trees as it swayed from side to side. Its feet made the ground tremble with the steps it took. It looked over the battle field with it's deep green eyes. Its deep green eyes...
I seemed to get lost in its eyes like I was in some kind of trance. My body seemed to move without command, but not against my will either. Before I knew it, I had walked over the seared guards' bodies and into the arena. The battlefield that laid before me seemed of no concern of mine anymore. I didn't feel the pain brought to me as greenish flames licked the sides of my legs. In fact, I didn't feel any heat at all. My blood ran cold when the savage creature turned to look at me. Or through me. Its eyes seemed to pierce my soul. Eating through me. Destroying me from the inside. But I kept staring at it. I felt my body start to grow weak as I felt the dragon's power invade my mind.
'Does this being of mankind come to challenge me?' I heard a voice say in the conciseness of my mind. I didn't need to ask; I didn't need to wonder. I knew it was the dragon speaking to me. A new side of me came out as I struggled to reach the back of my mind and respond.
'I... I...' I tried to telepathically speak back, but it was difficult. Like breaking down a brick wall with your bare hands; it was nearly impossible to get through. But for some reason, it seemed like parts of the walls were weekend and already falling apart. All I needed to do was reach the more brittle areas of the wall and I would get through. 'I... am...Al...ex' I struggled to to send out. As I waited to see what would happen next; everything around me seemed to become dark and silent. I saw star-like lights floating around me in the emptiness of the world I had just entered. I knew what had just happened. I broke down the wall. Only the dragon stood before me in this vast space. It no longer seemed to to be a menacing, killing monster, but a living breathing soul much like himself. This was not just some dragon; this was a being of great power and intelligence.
'A small opponent is daring enough to face such a beast as I?' The voice questions.
'On the outside, you are what you make yourself to be , but your soul emits a different aura.' I said back simply. I had no idea where these words were coming from; I couldn't even understand my own remarks. But the dragon seemed to understand.
'The message you consign is deep with passion and power. A being as young as you wouldn't have a mind so astute, but you are different. I can sense the spirits of the past dragons speaking to me through your soul. You are a gateway between are worlds. You can bring everything back to balance and peace.' I was so puzzled. A part of me knew what he was saying, but I myself didn't have a clue about what he was talking about.
'What do you mean?'
'You have been gifted with the spirit of a dragon. You can bring the Earth back to how it was meant to be. Where people and dragons were able to live in peace and harmony. A world of dragon riders.'
'Dragon what?!' I tried to ask, but it was too late. The peaceful world that I was transported to was disappearing and my connection was shifting from the dragon spirit back to my own conciseness. The heat in my body seemed to come back and I felt my knees buckle in from exhaustion underneath me, and I collapsed to the ground. I heard people screaming my name and saw the great green fiend swoop down to me from the air. It stretched out its long talons trying to grab me, but something pulled me aside just before it managed to reach. Its claw scraped against my seared back, tearing through my skin before it let out a furious roar and flew off with incredible speed towards the mountains. And my vision instantly went black.
The only thing that I remember after that was hearing, 'I am Magna; my name means great. And I promise, I will return to you. Incendium.'
