"Aish, what apabet?" Taehyung's eyebrows scrunched in confusion. You bring a hand to your face, rubbing the area between your own eyebrows to calm a headache that was coming on.
"Tae, it's alPHAbet," you begin, "and it's our letter system."
"Lettar.. Sastim?" He raised his eyebrows this time, reaching for his glass of pink lemonade.
The heater was on and defending the two of you from the cold that was the outdoors as you were trying to teach Taehyung the ways of the English language.
To the best of your abilities, of course.
He texted you a couple of days ago saying how he wanted to start his lessons and you agreed full heartedly; it was about time you actually did what he initially asked for.
"Yes, now repeat after me: lettER sYStEM," you respond, annunciated whatever syllables he mispronounced.
"Okay, lettER sYStEM," he said slowly, putting down his glass after taking a swift drink.
"Good," you smiled, "we're getting somewhere."
Taehyung grinned widely, causing your heart rate to increase a little, just a little.
But it was enough to remind you that, above all else, you needed to be careful; around Taehyung, and with yourself.
"So this letter is A." You hold up a card with the letter A written on it.
"Repeat after me and say A," you continue, handing him the card.
"A~," he hummed, staring at the card.
"It also sounds like 'ah', as if you were falling off a building. Something like 'AHHH! Save me!'" You look over to Taehyung, seeing him stare at you with an indescribable expression on his face.
"Y/N?" His face stayed the same, and you couldn't tell what he was thinking.
You were starting to get lost in his deep brown eyes, finding that there were all sorts of browns. There were light brown shades, darker brown shades, and even a few gold ones. His lips were chapped and you started thinking about whether this kid was the forgetful type when it came to using something like Chapstick or if he was the type to neglect the product. You decide that he was probably a bit of both.
You notice that his expression started turning into one of confusion since you starting staring for too long and you snapped out of your daze.
"Yeah?" You look away from him and decided to stare at the cards in your hands instead, even though you already know how the alphabet, the letters, the speech. But it was better than risking getting lost in his eyes again.
"You weird," he chuckled, a hand reaching up to scruff your hair from his place next to you on your couch. "Why fall skyscaker?"
"'Why would I fall off a skyscraper?' is the phrase you're looking for, I believe," you correct, smiling. "And it was the only thing that made sense when describing the sound, okay?"
"Ya, ya," Tae waved his hand about, the example forgotten and pushed to the back of his mind.
"Now, this is the letter B," you began, handing Taehyung the card with the decorative 'B' on it. "It sounds like 'buh' as in base, back, black, and so forth."
******************
An hour later of teaching Taehyung what the alphabet was, and answering the many questions he had, you decide it's about time he started learning how to spell things."Okay, Tae, based on what you learned just five minutes ago, how do you think you would spell your name?" You pulled out a white board and a dry erase marker and handed it to him to write it down.
"Oh, oh," he murmured in thought, taking the supplies out of your hands.
He became scribbling furiously, biting down on his tongue lightly as he wrote. After a couple of minutes, he was finished.
"Like this?" He raised up his board for you to see what he wrote.
On the board, somewhat neat and comprehensible you may add, was the word "Taayung."
"You're really close," you giggle, also feeling sorry for those who had to learn English as a second language.
"You write it like this," you say, taking the white board and marker out of hands to write on it. You spelled 'Taehyung' on it, and showed it to him.
"Jaa, wae? Wae young-eoneun neomu bogjabhada?" He put a hand on his left temple, most likely on the verge of the headache.
"What was that?" You smiled slightly, putting a hand on his shoulder.
But he only shook his head and closed his eyes, sighing heavily. When he opened his eyes again, he looked to you and seemed to be in deep thought.
"Ice cream," Tae murmured, pouting a little.
"But don't you want to learn English?" You took your hand off his shoulder and crossed your arms. What happened to our English Lessons?
"Continue other day. Let's ice cream," he insisted, standing up from the couch and heading towards the door.
"Alright, alright, just let me get my keys," you mutter, getting of the couch and walking over to the counter to grab your keys.
"Yay! Ice cream!" Taehyung runs back from his spot near the door and grabs your hand, tugging you to go outside.
"Okay, okay," you laugh softly, entertained by his enthusiasm.
Now you were curious, just what was Taehyung's favorite ice cream flavor.
********
I may or may not continue this in the next chapter, but we'll see. Maybe I'll do a short scene where they're eating ice cream but who knows. This was just a short, kinda cute little chapter for you guys. Anyways, I'm going to really try to put more effort in this story as well as update more often. I hope you guys have a good day/night!-Desiree💜
P.S. Can anyone tell me what Taehyung had said when he spoke in Korean? :,) Comment your guesses
