"Well," Jackie started, "let's begin by getting to know the agency better."
"How do we do that?" You leaned back into your seat, finding a newfound courage.
Jackie smiled. "We call my brother."
You let your expression match hers, a wide grin painting your features. Simply knowing that you had allies like Jin and Jackie by your side calmed your nervous by a great deal.
"It's only 10:30, though," Jackie continued. "He's still probably in his regular full-time job."
"'Regular?' Is it his cover up?" Your eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"No," she chuckled, "his job is a genuine hobby he took interest in outside of his agency duties two years after our parents tied the knot."
"Ahhh," you said. It's nice to know that there's something normal about this situation.
You stood up to stretch your legs, a yawn erupting from your lips. Although it was only the morning, you felt as if you've sitting down for years. Raising your hands to the ceiling, an idea came to mind.
"Jackie," you started, "what if we went back to his place and looked for clues to where they could've gone?"
The blonde grimaced. "I don't know about that."
"Why not?" You frowned and sat back down, the seat sinking under your weight.
"It could be dangerous," Jackie replied. "Like I said, this organization is complicated. Since they captured Taehyung, it's very possible that they knew where he was hiding. Which means that they could have traps set up for people like us who're looking for him.
"Plus," she added, "they most likely racked the place and trashed out anything that could give them away."
At this, you scoffed. "Give them away? They practically banged down the door to my apartment! That's about as 'giving away' as one can get."
"Haha," she chuckled softly. "I still think that we shouldn't risk it."
You grit your teeth in annoyance; Taehyung could be anywhere right now. He could be hurt, he could be tortured, or, even worse, he could be dying. You have no idea of what could be going on with him and that organization. But all you could be doing right now is sitting and waiting?
"Look," Jackie started, "I don't like it anymore than you do. I grew up a bit with Taehyung since he's such good friends with Jin. But we can't risk endangering ourselves by trying to save him. That would make the situation even more complicated. We should wait for Jin, someone who'll actually know what they're doing."
"Okay," you sighed. She had a point. This was not the time to be rash and start digging around in the dirt. After Taehyung's capture, you needed to make calculated decisions in order to ensure his safe return.
"For right now," the blonde began, "let's just collect our heads."
You murmured an agreement as you started getting lost in your thoughts. They were muddled and clung to each other like a thick fog covering the earth. It was dark. It was dark, and confusing, and seemingly endless.
"You're not collecting your head at all," Jackie chuckled. She reached over from her spot on the couch and grasped her keys. "Let's go grab a quick drink."
You blinked and checked the clock sitting at the very top of the door frame to the outside apartment. "A drink at a time like this? It's barely 11. 11 in the morning."
Jackie waved you off. "I think we've done worse. It's better to relax now before we actually start getting our hands dirty. We don't need another mental shutdown."
