Chapter 5

We Go to Poseidon's Country Inn Bar, Much to Brendon's Dismay

We drove for a while, staring at the flat landscape, until finally, we saw lights up ahead.

"Here is it," I said happily.

"What is this place?" Jake asked as we drove in to the small town.

"Poseidon's Village. I used to live here with my mom and dad, though now I know why we lived here. Pull into the bar parking lot right there," I told them, and Jake pulled into the bar parking lot.

"So what are we doing here again?" Jake asked.

"Meeting my dad. I had a dream where Zeus and my dad were arguing, and Zeus was going to hunt me down. Zeus left, and my dad told me to meet him here. So here we are," I explained.

"So we're here based off of a dream you had? Not to rain on your parade, Ari, but dreams don't really happen. It was just in your head," Jake said, and I glowered at him.

"It wasn't a normal dream, Jake. I've never had a dream that felt as realistic as that," I snapped. "Besides, with all that's happened this past day, this is the least crazy thing that's happened."

"Okay, I believe you," Jake said, though I knew he didn't. I glared at him and walked into the bar.

"Great, you've made her mad," I heard Brendon say, and I ignored what Jake said back. It would only make me angrier.

I looked around and saw some familiar faces, but I was looking for a certain one. I heard a shout of my name, and I turned to see a man in a red plaid shirt, jeans, black cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and a red bandana around his neck. He had brown hair and bright green eyes.

"Ariana Kingsley, is that you?" he asked, and a wide grin spread across my face.

"Jared!" I said and threw my arms around him. He hugged me back and picked me up.

"My, my, my, look how much you've grown! The last I saw you, you only reached my knees!" he said and put me down.

I laughed. "It's been a while. How are you, Jared? I haven't seen you in, like, forever!"

"Oh, I'm just dandy. Still as redneck as ever. You've grown up. You were only four years old the last time I saw ya! How old are ya now?"

"Fifteen, I'll be sixteen in August."

"Wow, it's been eleven years, and almost twelve in two months? Well, once you get your license, you'll have to come down here and see me every week!" Jared said.

I laughed. "You haven't changed one bit, Jared. Well, at least you're sober this time," I said, and he roared in laughter.

"You got that right! So, tell me, what brings you here all of a sudden?" he asked.

I shrugged. "I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by. I'm also meeting my dad here. You should remember him; he beat you up after you tried to hit on my mom the first time you saw her." I don't know how that memory came up, it just popped into my head.

"Oh, I remember him. He owns the whole town. So, William's in town, huh? Well, isn't tonight just a reunion." he mused, laughing slightly, and I laughed along with him.

Jared looked over my shoulder and frowned. I looked over also and saw Jake and Brendon had finally entered the bar, Jake a little nervous.

"Who are those two folks? One looks like he'd rather milk a bull than be here, and the other looks like he'd like nothing better than to find a needle in a haystack," he said, and I smiled slightly.
