Trust No One
Prologue:
The thing about legends is: sometimes, they're true. I didn't believe it at first, but all those myths you've been told about the Greek gods, well, they're real. Too real, sometimes. And just like everybody else, they have legends.
One legend of theirs is about a child of two gods who turned out to be mortal-called a hemigod because instead of being half human, half god they were half god and half god-who could control the elements. They were known as the Elemental.
Forced into extinction by Zeus, the Elemental never had the chance to discover all of their abilities. There was only ever one Elemental, and Zeus made sure to wipe out all the children who showed the traits of being one. It became a legend, something the gods thought would never happen again.
But legends have a way of resurfacing, and this one did on a hot day in August, fifteen years ago.
My name is Ariana Kingsley, daughter of Poseidon, god of the seas and Athena, goddess of wisdom, otherwise known as the next Elemental.
