Madison Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Chapter 3: Best of Wives and Best of Women
The Burrow was usually a place bustling with energy, the magic in it so strong that it seemed to be alive.
That's right, I just gave personification to a house.
But anyways, tonight the Burrow seemed to be lacking that magical spirit. It was lacking that personification.
Hagrid, Harry and myself wandered into the Weasley home, only to come face to face with a wand in our faces.
"How did Harry and Madison arrive to the Burrow the summer before their second year?" Molly Weasley's voice called out.
"Flying car... blue flying Ford Angelina," I told Mrs. Weasley.
"It is you!" Mrs. Weasley gasped before pulling Harry and I into a bone crushing hug.
Ginny trotted down the stairs in anticipation, her eyes widening once she saw us.
"Harry!" She exclaimed, excited.
"Ginny!" Harry exclaimed, the same level of excitement in his voice.
"And Madison..." I sang softly, acting as if I was Peggy from Hamilton.
Harry and Ginny hugged while I turned to Mrs. Weasley.
"Are we the first ones back?" I asked Mrs. Weasley, worry evident in my voice.
Gravely, she nodded.
I heard a rumble of some sort from outside the Burrow, and saw a flash- somebody else was here.
"Who is it?" I asked as two figures came in to the house.
Then I saw it.
George Weasley was bleeding at the spot where his ear should be- Mr. Weasley was carrying him and put him towards the couch, where I raced over to within seconds of him being placed there.
"What happened?" I asked, tears beginning to fall down my cheeks at the sight of George basically bleeding out.
"Snape- threw a curse, hit George in the ear... cut it off, now he's bleeding uncontrollably," Arthur Weasley told me, a worried look evident upon his sons face.
"Georgie, please wake up," I cried, kneeling down next to him and placing my face into his stomach, grasping his hands tightly almost as if I was to protect him from leaving me.
"Can we fix it?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
Mr. Weasley shook his head with sadness.
"Is he going to be alright?" I asked, still hysteric.
People started to file in, and I didn't care who did and who didn't at the moment, because all I wanted to focus on was George.
I felt tears trickle down my cheeks, leaving behind salty water remains. My eyes were most likely puffed up, and my nose felt runny. I sniffed and wiped my tears away.
I clutched George's hand, squeezing it as if he was never going to open his eyes.
I looked at his head- suddenly, I noticed a wide gaping hole where his ear should be.
George Weasley was missing an ear. Deep red blood matter down his ginger hair, some of it already in the act of harding.
"What happened?" Fred's voice suddenly echoed in my ear.
"Snape- he used a curse- it hit George's ear," I told him quietly.
"What curse?" Fred asked me, curious.
"Sectumspersa," I told him.
"Didn't Harry use that on Malfoy last year?" Fred asked, worry filling his voice.
"Yes- he had no clue what it would do... but now that I do have some knowledge of it, George is lucky it just hit his ear."
"How you feeling, Georgie?" Fred asked his twin brother as George's eyes flickered open.
"Saint like," George replied.
"Come again?" Fred asked, confused and worried for his brother's sanity.
"I'm holey Fred, get it? I'm holey."
I rolled my eyes at his joke.
"With the whole world wide of ear related humor, and you go with "I'm holey?" Pathetic."
I grinned. "At least we know that your horrid sense of humor is still in tact."
I took a wipe from Mrs. Weasley, who let me wipe the blood off of George. I gingerly did so to avoid giving him any more pain. I then wrapped it up for him and held his hand tightly. I gave him a soft kiss on the lips, and he tried to deepen it, but I pulled away before he could successfully do so, because I knew that as soon as he deepens it, I would as well.
He gave a small pout, causing me to roll my green eyes at his actions.
"Where's Mad-Eye?" Harry automatically asked.
"Dead," Bill stated quietly. "Fletcher disappeared as soon as Death Eaters started approaching. Got killed by You-Know-Who."
A solemn silence landed upon the Burrow. Mad-Eye Moody was dead. Gone.
"Raise a glass to freedom," I mumbled, thinking of how Moody was now free and able to be in a world where he would have to fight this horrid fight.
"Hey," George firmly gripped my hand, "best of wives, best of women."
I felt tears roll down my cheeks as I leaned my head into George's chest.
