Chapter 12: Trust

"Isn't this a bit of a bad idea?" Anthony Goldstein asked me as he pulled me aside after I lead everybody down the hallway and into the training room.

I snorted at his lack of bravery, "How else are we going to learn to fight? It's not like we're being taught anything by Carrow. The only one really teaching us anything is McGonagall, and she's teaching us how to transfigure a piece of wood into a lethal weapon! Which, ultimately, will help us in the end hopefully-"

He cut me off with a hiss, "What if we get caught?"

It was my turn to smirk, "You and I are the only ones who know the password to our dormitory. And unless you plan on being a snake, and betraying the light, you keep your mouth shut."

Anthony's face went blank with surprise, "You should have been in Ravenclaw, you know that?"

Once again, I found myself smirking, "Well the Sorting Hat did almost put me in Ravenclaw."

His face went to a surprised look, "Never heard of a Gryffindor almost getting into Ravenclaw. Most are usually too big headed too get their head out of their cockpit."

"You need to get away from me as soon as you can, or else you'll have some Bat Boogey's following you around constantly," I glared at him before smiling and walking into the training room.

In side the training room, mostly everybody from Dumbledore's Army that had not graduated was in there, looking around the room.

I spotted Nigel, who was standing next to Neville, asking him about a million question about Herbology (apparently, he hadn't done so well on the second unit test of the year). Neville, of course, happily answered all of his questions.

Pavarti and Padma Patil we're standing next to Seamus and Dean, both talking eagerly about something that probably dealt with pyrotechnics, since Seamus accidentally blew up something in Potions the other day.

Hannah Abbott was standing next to Neville, looking at him in adoration with a cherry hue on her face.

Ginny trotted over to me, and told me underneath her breath, "We haven't got as many people as we did two years ago."

I shrugged my shoulders, "People graduated... some were... and some just couldn't come back this year."

"Don't we need a bigger army?" Goldstein piped up from my other side, causing me to jump.

"First off," I retorted, "don't scare me like that. For all I know, you could have been a Death Eater and my wand would have been out of my pocket faster than you can say Quidditch. Second of all, sometimes a smaller army can be better- if there's more people to train, then there won't be enough time to cover everything that we should, and we won't be able to focus more on everybody's skills and perfecting them."

"So when you said we, you meant that I was included, right?" Anthony asked.

Much to Ginny's amusement (she had let a snort escape her mouth), I sarcastically responded, "Of course! You're my right hand man!"

"Really?" Anthony smiled.

"No, of course you aren't my right hand man, nor are you in charge!" I responded, surprised that he, a Ravenclaw, couldn't figure out my sarcasm, "I was being sarcastic. And you call yourself a Ravenclaw."

I motioned for him to go stand with the others, causing him to tell me, "You're really bossy, you know that?"

I smirked, "Well, us Gryffindors tend to have the courage and ambition to get stuff done by being loud and being in charge."

Neville quickly walked over to Ginny and I, and murmured, "I think Hannah Abbott has a thing for me."

I nodded, "Well, it's obvious, but we can worry about that later."

Neville nodded and turned to face the group of witches and wizards willing to fight against Voldemort.

"OKAY! LISTEN UP PEOPLE!" I yelled, cutting off the chatter in the room. "Welcome to the official first meeting of this new formation of Dumbledore's Army. I'm Madison, but I think you all knew that, and this is Ginny and Neville. We will be training you to the best that we possibly can to get ourselves ready for what will come at us, and I expect the people in my year to help out as well."

"Excuse me," a girl raised her hand and asked in a very Hermione-like fashion, "what happens if we get caught?"

"We won't get caught- what's your name?" I asked.

"Anissa Kepner," she replied, causing me to see her.

Anissa Kepner had black hair pulled into a tight pony tail, and dark skin and bright hazel eyes that were full of wonder and excitement. She was about my height, and she was wearing a Ravenclaw uniform with a prefect pin on it and she honestly reminded me of myself and Hermione.

I smirked, "Well, Anissa, we won't be getting caught. Just trust me."

She nodded and looked around the room and blushed as soon as she saw everybody looking at her.

"Anissa brought up a good point: we need to trust everybody. We need to trust everybody in here to have your back, and if you don't have any confidence or trust in everybody in this room, I will wipe your memory of this ever happening to you and you will be able to fend for yourself. So if you don't trust anybody or have confidence in anybody in this room, leave right now," I threatened.

Nobody moved, much to my belief.

"Great," I grinned, "now let's get started."
