Madison Potter the Deathly Hallows
Chapter 13: The Not Very Merry Christmas of 1997
The snow was twisting and turning outside with a fierce passion, settling down in one place for a split second before going back into the air and settling in another spot. The sky was dark and cloudy; I couldn't see the moon. My breath fogged up the the window, limiting what I could see outside of it. I sighed and pushed the ancient magenta curtains back against the window as I stepped away.
There was still no sign of George. Still no sign of Fred. No sign of Mr. Weasley. No sign of Ron. No sign of Hermione.
And of course, there was no sign of my brother either. That was to be expected though.
Arguably, my brother was the most stupid person on Earth most of the time. I mean here he goes and gets a great reputation.
"I guess Harry got a great Christmas present," I grumbled as I made my way back to the other side of living room, sitting down on the dark red velvet couch next to Ginny.
"Enlighten me, what did he get?" Ginny asked, already knowing the answer, but wanting to hear it again as the tension in the room was beginning to become unbearable.
"An undesirable no. 1 poster with his face from fifth year on it," I replied, a bit of a smile growing onto my face.
"That'll look great on job applications," Ginny sarcastically replied, rolling her eyes.
"If we get the chance to do that," I began, my eyebrows furrowed. "At the rate that this war is going, we might not even have a Hogwarts to go back to after New Years."
"Madison," Ginny began, turning her body around so she could completely face me, "don't talk like that. There will be a Hogwarts after New Years. Besides, as long as McGonagall is there, we will be there."
I gave her a grim smile. "That's what I'm afraid of. She's getting older Ginny. What if she can't fight as well? I'm nervous, really nervous."
"Don't be. Besides, we have the army to back her up. To back you and Harry up," she said, putting a hand on my knee.
A rugged grunt reached my ears as the front door creaked open.
"Who's there?" I heard Mrs. Weasley ask from the kitchen. I pulled my wand out of my sweatshirt pocket and stood in a fighting stance along with Ginny.
"It's me," I heard George call out.
He soon came into view. God, I had missed him.
His orange hair was a bit longer now, and it covered up the spot where his ear should've been. He seemed somewhat more muscular, from what I'm not sure, but he seemed to also have grown even taller if possible. This man was nineteen and still growing— it's like he had never even gotten out of the puberty stage. He had some orange whiskers on his face, and his deep chocolate eyes were searching his nearby surroundings for something. George was wearing the Gryffindor scarf that I had gotten for him many Christmas's ago around his neck.
It took a lot to not jump him then and there.
His eyes finally caught mine.
"Madison..."
"Yes?" I quirked an eyebrow, trying to get him to come over to me.
"Your hair looks different," he told me as he walked closer to me.
"Yeah, it's shorter," I rolled my eyes. The sexual tension in the air was getting too high for my liking.
"It looks beautiful on you," George grinned, wrapping his arms around my waist, his hands placed dangerously close to my bottom.
