-Hermione Granger-
We have apparated safely to the front of The Malfoy Manor. I had used the same method that Professor Dumbledore once did with Hogwarts- no one can apparate to or from our house.
We both got our wands out, lifting off the charm on our enormous door. I started resetting it after entering inside. It seemed to take boringly long but at the end, Draco beckoned me.
"I just wonder if Lysa managed to keep hold of them the entire day," he stated.
"Well, in case they messed up, we're wizards, remember? There's the Scouring Charm."
"Oh show me thee wise one! Show me thy magic!" He mocked with a Shakespearean voice.
I blushed but I was used to his style of having fun now. I should try to have some fun from it myself, starting from now. I gripped his hand, it was astonishingly cold. I draw an "S" in the air, his wand was pointing a dirty looking bird pond.
"Say, 'Scourgify!' " I demanded.
"Scourgifee!" He shouted, with the look of a mischievous student on his face. He reminded me of Stella at times like these.
I looked at him, rolling my eyes upwards as if there were glasses on my nose, McGonagall style. And I started talking, imitating her voice, deep down knowing it's a part of me too. "It's not Scourgifee, it's Scourgify! SKUR-ji-fy!"
What surprised my was that he chose to obey.
"Scourgify!" He cried. A green light flew out of his wand, to the bird pond which cleaned it immediately.
"Not bad," I patted him on his back.
"So that's what you call a reward?" He snarled.
"Well, what did you expect?"
"Why don't we talk about this after a nice dinner date?"
I rolled my eyes. "Okay but let's go in. I am getting nervous."
"Don't worry, they are probably fine."
"Probably assures me well, thank you very much."
He opened the door, only to see our children hopping around as if they just had an entire box of Rainbow Nerds. Luna was chasing Stella and Brian was rolling on the floor by himself. Lysa rushed into the room and looked mortified when she saw us.
"I'm so sorry...They're just-"
"That's okay," I replied sympathetically and then screamed at the top of my lungs, my wand aiming Stella, "Arresto Momentum!"
Draco did the same for Brian and Luna so they were temporarily frozen. Lysa gently held Brian and left. After a few minutes, girls went back to normal.
"What was it again?" I demanded, my hands on my hips.
"Stella said that I was probably gonna end up with Hufflepuff and be a shame for the whole family."
The school year was going to start the next day and Luna was going to get sorted. She wanted to be a Gryffindor, just like me.
"She doesn't have the guts!" Stella attempted to justify her point.
"So how do you? You are still afraid of the other mother in Coraline," shot back Luna. She was a definite cutey except the times that she lost her temper.
"Bravery is not about being fearless. It's about being able to face your fears. Besides, us Slytherins value being clever." resisted Stella.
"Then howcome you are in Slytherin? You are just too stupid for a 13 year old!" I was awed. The hormones, I guess, was how a sassy Luna made her appearance.
"Enough with that girls! Hufflepuff is a house of hardworking, loyal and friendly people; they actually have a lot in common with Gryffindor." Luna smiled victoriously at Stella. "And Luna, I don't want to see you being mean to your sister again." I added.
"But-"
"Dinner's ready!" called Lysa.
It smelled of pasta with tomato sauce.
And it was.
We set the table altogether, even Brian joined us. However, Draco didn't- he still wasn't quite over his prejudice towards doing things the muggle way.
"What's the mean of it when a flicker of my wand would make everything much faster?"
"I still think it's nice to teach our children how to be independent individuals who don't expect everything served to them in golden plates."
"You are right, they aren't gold, but silver." he pointed out the plates. That made everyone laugh hysterically, the atmosphere had suddenly warmed up. I loved that fuzzy feeling in my heart when I felt a real connection, a unison, something rather holy for me: family.
