If anything, you were even more bashful and shy than you were before becoming a half-ghoul. Uta was worried about you hating him or being distance, but he was pleasantly surprised that you wanted to be near him more and solely wanted to spend time with him before seeing your friends.

Uta had to basically force you out of the room and through the hallway like a child because of how nervous you were to face everyone after your transformation. He found it undoubtedly hilarious and adorable as he pulled you by the hand. You eventually gave in and walked beside him down the staircase and into the main floor of the cafe.

"Uh, hi," you said as you watched everyone stare at you.

The whole gang was around, including Nishiki, Kimi, and Hinami. Everyone simply stared, not knowing what to say.

"Well, this is awkward," Nishiki muttered, annoyed.

Kimi jabbed his side and you giggled under your breath with Uta pulling you closer to his side, gazing down at you adoringly.

"So, are you okay?" Touka asked.

"Yeah, I think so," you replied easily.

The truth was, you felt exceptionally well. You felt stronger and healthier with more energy and ambition than ever before. Rushing blood surged through your veins and you wondered how much of the world you could take on with this new body and new life.

Yoshimura slid you a coffee and you took it gratefully with a thanks for the beverage and saving you.

Things went back to normal after that with the group sitting around the cafe chatting and you questioning some things ghouls did to understand it all better. You wanted to be more educated in how the ghoul world was run and who to trust, which was apparently anyone besides Tsukiyama.

You left around one in the morning with Uta and you joyfully skipped around him in the middle of the street. Being a ghoul in the night was more euphoric than you thought because you knew you could defend yourself from the dangers lurking in the shadows.

"How do you feel?" Uta questioned.

You thought for a moment. "Reborn. It feels like this was how it was supposed to be."

"Me too," he said, his eyes following each of your movements around him.

"It's liberating but scary to be in this new world, but I know we're going to do amazing things together."

Uta stopped, pulling you to a halt beside him. He turned to face you and looped his arms around your waist to pull you into him. Your hands went to his shoulders and you waited for something to happen.

"You're extraordinary, (Y/N) (L/N)."

You chuckled and ran your hand over the shaved part of Uta's head because you liked the prickly feeling on your palm. You thought about him and who he was after his confession.

Uta Ozera--incredible man, wonderful boyfriend, and fantastic ghoul. He was the most talented and honest person in your eyes no matter the rumors or horror stories told about him. You knew Uta better than anyone and he was your soulmate, meaning achieving a deep understanding and empathic standpoint with each other. Everything that happened, he was there to hold your hand and you would be there for him through any destruction.

"You're beyond what the vast universe knows as amazing," you replied.

"You enjoy outdoing me, don't you?" Uta teased.

"I never get tired of this," you admitted. "Never tired of us."

"Does that mean you'll marry me?"

You blinked multiple times as your brain replayed Uta's words in the short span of five second. He was... actually asking you the big question. The thing you had discussed multiple times, but you thought it was far in the future.

"I'm serious," he said, backing up and getting on one knee with your hands still in his. "I don't have a ring but I'll get one and we'll design you a mask and you can have whatever you want, just say yes."

"Yes," you breathed. "How could you even think I'd second-guess the offer?"

Uta shrugged. "Because you're unpredictable."

You dropped to your knees and hugged him with all your strength, actually causing him to let out a tiny cough. You loosened your grip but kept him held tight, then pulled away to collide your lips with his. You ran your fingers over the metal on his ears and felt the familiar lip ring pressed against your scar.

You got home fast, and after a round of sexual pleasure, you laid in bed naked and cuddled together for comfort in each other's embraces.

"We can have kids now," Uta murmured. "I know we said no, but I thought it was because we knew we couldn't."

You rolled over and straddle him with your bare chest on display. Since you had been intimate many times, you weren't timid about showing yourself off and Uta looked to enjoy every second of it.

"Let's see what happens. Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't," you responded, running a hand up and down his solid chest.

Uta hummed and glided his hands up your thighs and to your hips before moving them around to grope your butt.

"As long as we're in agreement."

"Oh, we are," you said. "We always are."

With that, you continued your session until the sun rose that morning. The chaos and havoc was drawing to a close and perhaps something much more beautiful would be arriving in the long run for you and your fiance. Only fate would know the answer to that.
