Carry you- union J
I splash water from the faucet onto my face, refreshing me from the events that have occurred today. I elevate my head to peer into the large mirror lined against the wall of the ladies washroom.
In the timespan I have met Harry, every single time I have looked into the mirror I see someone different. It has ranged from hate to love, disgust to acceptance.
But this time, I glow.
My skin has a sudden radiance to it that lights up the badly lit washroom. I look in the grimy mirror and take on a whole different persona as to what I would've seen last week even.
Only days ago I would've looked into this same grimy mirror and made myself believe that the dirt that lines to edge of it is more beautiful than I would ever be. I would do anything at all to not look into the eyes of my own, I would've resorted to absolutely any extremity just so I didn't have to look into the soul of the devil. I would've recited every single word perfectly as to what I would put down on that piece of paper that declared my suicidal passing.
But now I look and see a girl who is stronger than she has ever been before. She no longer puts that fake smile on her face nor does she trick everybody around her into thinking she's of ease. She holds a genuine smile to her lips that is so foreign yet it feels better than she has felt in her 19 years of life. She looks into those beautiful blue eyes that this girl now sees are truly unique and she doesn't see the emotion being held in, she sees proudness that she appraises herself with.
This girl is finally fighting those demons that always seem to work their way into her mind, and she is conquering all. She has realized that no matter how hard someone knocks her down, nobody can break the character she always holds. She has been tossed around and cracked in so many different contexts, but she will always remember what her mother always told her.
You have to hit rock bottom in order to get back up and start climbing once again.
And this is true on so many levels. Hitting rock bottom means you have experienced as much as you could possibly take before breaking completely. Although, this also means that you have knowledge on the feeling and the after affects that take position in your place. So when you are ready to stand back up and when you are ready to climb back up the mountain, you know what to watch out for. Sometimes you may come tumbling back down, and sometimes it may seem impossible.
But sometimes you have to take that risk.
If you take the hand that someone is giving, begging you to take that help you need, you will see that life does get better. I have realized that life is made to have its ups and downs, some worse than others, but I have also realized that it doesn't always stay like that. Maybe if I took the help sooner than later, I would be healthier than I am today;
but the weird thing is that I wouldn't change a thing.
I have learned from my mistakes. Therefore, I have grown stronger than ever before.
My head turns to the sound of the washroom door opening and closing, seeing Cassandra appear in the doorway.
"Georgia, there you are. Can I talk to you for a second?" Cassandra's voice sounds vulnerable. I watch her quivering posture and her shifty eyes while she looks around to make sure no one is else was in here with us.
"Yes, of course. Is everything alright?" I ask.
"Do you want the truth?" Cassandra gives me a sad smile.
The way she is acting contrasts from how I have always seen her. If you were on her good side, she was that girl that was always beaming. She had ahold of a strong sense of confidence and was always laughing. Cassandra was that girl who was never sad and that always had this radiance that immediately made you smile. Her outgoing personality was always something I wanted, even if we were never the best of friends, her presence instantly made me feel that much brighter.
