"Chloe"
"Chloe"
"Chloe"
"CHLOE"
"You have no idea what's going to happen, do you?"
"Chloe, wake up Chloe, WAKE UP!"
I sat up gasping for air. I instantly took notice of how terribly sweaty I was and that there was a cold breeze flowing through my room carelessly. I look beside me and there is an empty spot in place of Derek, of course there is, why wouldn't there be. Yet again, another night of sleep lost by this reoccurring nightmare. Is it even a nightmare? The dream, if you'll call it that, started happening roughly a month after the alpha bit me. Since they started, everytime I wake, Derek is gone. He claims it's because he's training his betas, which I'm sure he is, but I also know for a fact that he's trying to figure out what's going on with me and why I'm suddenly having these dreams. But most of all, I know he's trying to figure out what they mean.
I get out of bed and walk towards my open window. I peer out of the window looking out at the full moon, which never seemed to trigger my animalistic side, and I wonder what all of this means. I decide to shut the window and throw on some shoes. This is how most of my nights are, I'll wake up after only about three hours of sleep and I'll go on a walk. Walking late at night for some reason, allows me to think the most about everything. It's like the night allows me to ponder mindlessly about the things that terrify me, there is just something so calming about the night.
*Crunch*
"What was that? Is someone following me? No, it was probably just an animal or the wind rustling the leaves, yeah that's what it was."
I suddenly decide to go and quickly hide up in a tree just to be sure that no one was following me. Right after I got up the tree, I saw something. It was the Kanima, it was almost like it was looking for me. The Kanima suddenly stopped and shifted its head almost as though it was listening for something, anything to give way to show where its prey went, which I'm positive was me, but I could be wrong. After about ten minutes, the Kanima left. It scurried off away from me. I waited another twenty minutes before choosing to climb down the tree and rush home.
I unlock the door to my home. I walk in quietly, and hang up my keys and take off my shoes. As I'm doing this, the light turns on. I jumped and let out a tiny, startled squeal. Quickly, I whip around and there he is standing there looking as though he is upset. Which I'm sure he is, given that I didn't bother to send him a text to let him know I would be going out.
"Derek, you startled me."
"Where were you? It's late and when I got home you weren't here."
"I just went on a walk to clear my mind."
"A walk? You went on a walk in the middle of the night and on a full moon!"
"Its not that big of a deal Derek, let's just drop it. At least for the rest of the night we'll talk tomorrow. I'm tired and don't feel up to discussing it right now."
