You finished running your last lap around the canyon. Tucker came right after you, completely out of breath. You rolled your eyes. "It was only one lap." You told him.
"Fuck... You." He said between gasps.
You began to set up the make-shift shooting range, using cones for targets. He started to complain while you worked.
"This training is such bullshit!" He whined. "I wish I could just take a day off with a fucking beer or some shit."
"Where would you find beer?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
He gestured towards the crashed ship. "The crew quarters. I'm sure a few of the soldiers snuck some alcohol on board."
You tapped your chin thoughtfully. "If you can stay quiet for the rest of the day, I'll help you sneak onto the ship and find some beer." You promised, knowing that it was extremely difficult for him to keep his mouth shut.
He was about to say something, but then gave you a thumbs up instead. You held back a laugh, wondering how long he would last.
Then, as the day came to an end, you almost forgot about the deal you made with him. You head to bed, and at midnight, woke up with somebody shouting "Wake up, y/n, wake up!"
You groaned and sat up to see Tucker again. He looked excited. "I can talk again! And, I was quiet for the whole day, so now you've got to help me!"
"It's the middle of the night!" You complained. "Besides, I think Wash is on watch right now. He'll see us." You rolled back over and tried to go back to sleep, but he kept trying to convince you.
"Not if you distract him! Come on, you promised. Don't be a bitch!" He whined.
You wanted to rip your ears off. "God damn it! Fine!" You grumbled, then shoved him outside. "Go!" You instructed, then head up to the roof of the large metal structure.
You stopped when you saw the Blue team's leader. Now that you were here... How could you distract him? What would get him to look away from the canyon for a few minutes?
You walked up behind him, deciding to wing-it.
"Hey." You got his attention, and he turned to face you. "I need to talk to you about something important." You took a few seconds to try and come up with a quick lie, but you couldn't think of one.
"Okay. What is it?" He asked, sounding slightly annoyed that he was being bothered.
"I need some help with..." You tried to think of something while he waited for you to continue. "Boys!" You burst out. "Yeah, I'm having boy trouble, and need some advice. From you." You rubbed the back of your neck. There was no way that he would believe you.
He sighed. "Oh... Um...Who?" He asked, sounding slightly awkward.
Your head shot up. He actually believed you? "Uh..." You trailed off. You didn't think that you'd get this far... "The guy? That I need help with? He's um... It's not important!" You said. The only guy that you were interested in, happened to be standing right in front of you.
"What kind of 'advice' did you need?" He asked, shifting his balance from foot to foot. It looked like he wanted to help, but he wasn't sure how to. "Why don't you go talk to Tucker about this stuff? I'm sure he'd be more help than me."
You rolled your eyes at that suggestion. "Really? Tucker, giving romantic advice?" You both shared a small laugh. "Anyways... How do you let a guy know that you're interested in them?"
He scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Uh... I suppose you could tell them directly. But if you can't express it with words, sometimes you can show it with body language, you know? It's like that one saying, that actions speak louder than words."
You sat down, playing with the fabric on your sweatpants. "Yeah, I guess. But what if you try to do that, but they just don't take a hint?"
He sighed and sat beside you, removing his helmet and rubbing the visor, as if he was cleaning it a bit. "Well, sometimes guys are stupid. You have to be more direct sometimes." He explained. "So are you going to tell me who this mystery guy is?"
You let out a small laugh, then grabbed the chestplate of his armor, pulling him closer to you. "Not with words." You said, then pressed your lips to his. He stiffened, as if he was surprised, but then relaxed, and allowed his hand to rest on your waist. You pulled back, immediately feeling the cold air replacing the warmth from the kiss.
You had a wide smile on your face, as you saw him process what just happened. The tips of his ears turned red, and he slammed his helmet over his head, clearing his throat. "Looks like you don't need anymore advice." He said, then pushed himself up.
You pulled his helmet up and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. "Wake me up when it's time for my shift." You told him, then head downstairs.
Tucker looked proud of himself, as he carried in an armful of assorted bottles. "Check it out! How'd you manage to distract him?" He asked.
You shrugged, with a sly smile on your face as you took a beer from him and head back to your room.
