CABOOSE X READER

Captain Caboose was... special. Well, that was kind of an understatement... he's... uh... he's Caboose.
Even though he didn't think or talk like anyone else, you still managed to understand and get along with him. You were proud to be his #1 human friend, since Church was #1 in general.
You often stood up for him when other people, especially Tucker, insulted him. They'd call him retarded, stupid and dumb, but you always had a quick insult to shoot back at them. It was your job to protect your friend.
One day, after a particularly mean comment from Tucker, you went to comfort Caboose.
"Hey, Caboose." You greeted, sitting next to him. He was playing with a rubik's cube, peeling the stickers off and putting them on the correct sides.
"Hello y/n!" He greeted you with a happy smile.
"You know Tucker didn't mean that, right? You aren't actually a moron or a fuck-up. He was just being a jerk." You told him. He was silent for a while.
"Y/n, everyone thinks that I'm dumb. You're the only person that's ever called me smart." He admitted, dropping the rubik's cube on the ground as he gave up on it. "Am I really dumber than Tucker and other people?" He asked sadly.
You picked up the rubik's cube and started peeling stickers as well. "Caboose, everybody's mind works differently. For example, most people would solve this cube bu rotating the sides until they got the colors matched up, but instead, you decided to do it a different way." You explained, lining up all the red stickers.
"But I'm just doing that because it's easier." He informed you, watching as you moved around more stickers.
"Sometimes easier is better. Even if you think differently than everybody else, in the end, it doesn't make much of a difference, does it?" You asked, holding up the completed cube. You  twisted it around in your hand, showing him each completed side. "In the end, the cube is finished, no matter how you do it." You handed him the six-sided cube, which he immediately dropped.
He hugged you tightly. "Thanks y/n! You're the smartest and the nicest person ever! Maybe even better than Church! But don't tell him I said that... it would hurt his feelings."
You laughed lightly and kissed him on the cheek. "Don't worry, I won't tell him." You held up your pinky, and he locked his finger with yours. "Pinky promise."
You held up a different finger the next time Tucker walked by.
