(So I'm actually kind of surprised... Apparently this is the first time I'm doing a Church x reader.)
(HIGHSCHOOL AU)
Tucker handed you another pin.
"It's such bullshit. I don't know why she said no. We totally have a connection." He complained to you, mostly because you were a good listener. Lots of people complained to you about things, because you liked to listen, and sometimes give advice. Church seemed to have the most to complain about, but you haven't seen him since lunch.
Right now, it was after school, and you were hanging a prom banner in the hallway, to let everyone know that prom was on its way.
"When you ask a girl to prom, you can't just... ask her. Girls like it when you make a big deal about asking her, like with a poster and flowers or some shit." You informed him. He grumbled something, then crossed his arms.
"I don't get what the big deal is, anyways. It's just a stupid dance that you won't care about when you're thirty." He rolled his eyes, while you continued to try and put up the banner. If only you could reach this last corner...
"Trust me, you'll still care about prom when you're thirty. My mom won't stop bringing it up." You sighed, leaning over the ladder just a bit.
It started to wobble, but you could finally reach that corner. You started to pin it up when you heard a voice beneath you.
"Hey, Y/n!"
Then there was the sound of a party-popper, and the sudden noise and blast of confetti made you jump, knocking over the ladder.
Tucker managed to catch the ladder, but who would catch you?
You were surprised to land in somebody's arms.
"Church." You said in surprise.
He smiled nervously. "Um... that was probably my fault." He admitted, and you noticed the party-popper that had fallen out of his hands.
He was still holding you, making you blush a bit.
"So... what's up?" You asked with a small laugh.
"Apparently not you." Tucker scoffed, resetting the ladder.
Church glared at him for a moment, then looked back down at you.
"So, I was going to ask you a question, but now I think you'd just slap me... or push me off a ladder." His entire face turned red-ish.
"What's the question?" You asked curiously.
"Would you... I mean, will you..." He took a deep breath, then squeezed his eyes shut.
"Do you wanna, maybe, go to prom with me?" He asked, peeking open one eye as he waited for your answer.
"Yep, I'm pushing you off a ladder." You giggled, then pulled yourself out of his arms, then went back up to reset the banner.
Tucker looked surprised. "Wow. That was lame." He walked down the hallway, probably heading home for the day.
"So... is that a no?" Church asked, looking hurt.
"No, you idiot." You laughed. "I'm definitely going to be your prom date." You blew him a kiss, and he held the ladder while you finished placing the banner.
You stepped off the ladder and admired your hard work.
Then, you noticed what the banner said.
"Y/n Prom? -Church"
It was scribbled in shitty painted letters. Your eyes widened a bit.
"Wow. Did you and Tucker really go through all that trouble just to do this?" You asked, and he shrugged, a little embarrassed.
"You weren't supposed to fall off the ladder." He admitted.
You kissed him sweetly. "I could fall for you any day."[REQUESTED BY @SleepyKaiti]
