Author's Note: This chapter is the beginning of what may be a 3 chapter parter. Meaning, it'll start with Erin's POV, next will be Jay's, then hopefully the 3rd chapter will wrap it up. If not, it could be longer. Bare with me as this will all come together.
Part One: Erin's Suspicions
It's been a month since Erin and Jay confessed their undying love for one another. Things had been going great for the two. Their relationship was in a great place, work was going good, but then things happened and it felt like the pure happiness they were living in was being threatened.
Alvin Olinsky lost his daughter Lexi, which broke everyone's heart. Erin just wanted to hug Al so tight. The pain he was in broke her heart. Why did things like this have to happen? Especially to someone you cared about. It was life, and she knew that, but it still didn't make it fair.
Things continued on at work, even when Atwater was being accused of being to rough with a suspect he arrested, that ended up dying after he was arrested. She was beyond relieved when they found him innocent and he returned to work.
It was things like this, Olinsky losing his daughter, Atwater being accused of someone's death, that left Erin worried that things were starting to go downhill. It wasn't a thought she wanted to have, but it was something weighing on her mind. It didn't help that Jay was acting strange all of the sudden. Maybe she was just being paranoid.
Erin didn't know what it could be, after their confessions, she knew they loved each other far too much for it to be another woman. Right, he wouldn't cheat on her, would her? She shook the ridiculous thoughts from her head, and got back to work. It was silly to have thoughts like that. She was quite annoyed with herself for even thinking that would be the problem.
Jay was acting weird, that Erin was sure of. What the problem was, she'd like to know, but with them being at work, she decided to keep things professional. Waiting until home seemed like a better idea anyway. If something really is wrong, Jay may feel more comfortable discussing it at home, so, she'd wait.
The whole shift, the many thoughts that haunted Erin's mind, refused to leave her mind, no matter what she did. It was quite an annoyance. Kim could tell something was plaguing Erin. When they had a moment alone, Kim decided to get to the bottom of it.
"Hey Erin, you okay?" Kim asked, her tone filled with concern.
Erin, who had been lost in her thoughts, snapped out of it when she heard Kim speak.
"Um. Yeah, I'm fine. Just have a lot on my mind." She answered. Not very convincing, since she could see on Kim's face that she didn't exactly believe her.
That was a very accurate reading, because Kim did not believe that Erin was okay. Something was bothered her, and Kim wanted to help in anyway she could.
"You know you can trust me, right? I'm here for you. I consider you as one of my dearest friends. If I can help, please let me. If you don't want to talk here, maybe we can head to Maggie's, have a few drinks, talk about it?" Kim placed her hand on Erin's shoulder, "And if you don't want to talk about it, we can just hang out, have some beers, and maybe clear that head of yours."

FanficThis is my first time ever doing fanfiction. So, hopefully, it's not too horrible. Lol. This was meant to be a short story, but I'm not completely sure yet. It was a story inspired by LeAnn Rimes song "I Need You." For this part, I did Erin's POV. I...
