Harley stared at the television absentmindedly as she played with the fur of Lou who had fallen asleep on her lap.

He wasn't home, so of course her mind was stuck on him. She wasn't thinking about his charming smile, or how handsome he looked in his suit, she was thinking about the day she had broken him. The day that they both had broken.

"You wanna know about my home life?"

"If you wouldn't mind." Harleen said sweetly.

"Hell, where do I start?" J laughed to himself. Harleen flipped to a fresh page on her notepad and smiled up at Joker. "How about your parents?"

The smile vanished off of J's face instantly. "My folks? My folks were a straight up mess. I was always more of a mama's boy. My old man never seemed to give two shits about what happened to me."

"Go on.." Harleen urged as she prepared to scribble down whatever came out of his mouth.

But the more Joker thought about his father, the more his blood began to boil.

"Get in here you no good son of a bitch!" Jack's father shouted at him, yanking his son by the arm. "What the fuck is this shit? I give you one damn job and you can't even do that!" Jack flinched as his father gestured to the small scratch on his car.

"I-It was an accident dad. I didn't mean to.." The young boy stuttered.

One hard slap caused Jack to fall back and hit his head on the cement ground of the garage. Jack cried out helplessly as his father stood over him with his cigarette in his hand. "You just fuck up everything you touch!" Jack yelped as his father pressed the cigarette into his skin.

Seconds later, his mother ran out to his defense. She shoved her husband away and held Jack tightly in her arms. "Stop it! Jesus, can't you give him a break?! It was an accident for crying out loud!" Jack trembled in his mother's arms while his dad yelled back at her.

"Maybe if YOU didn't get knocked up, we wouldn't have this accident!" His father screamed, pointing to Jack.

"How dare you! If anything this boy has given me more joy than you ever could have!" Tears poured out of Jack's eyes. He tugged on his mother's shirt and begged her to stop. "Mom, it's okay. It's my fault. Don't do this to yourself.." he whispered.

But it was too late. His father had already grabbed a handful of his wife's hair, forcefully pulling her over to him. She stared at her husband, tears welling up in her eyes.

"What happened to the man I fell in love with?" The haunting laughter of Jack's father was something he'd never be able to forget. His mother's eyes were full of fear and confusion.

"What happened to the bitch who'd cook me dinner without putting up a fight?" He sneered.

Jack watched in horror as his mother uttered her most likely two last words.

"Fucking pig." She cursed before spitting in her husband's face.

Not even a second later and she was already being dragged off by the hair, screaming and kicking and shouting for Jack.

"Run, baby! Run!" Her terrified screams were the last thing Jack ever heard come out of his mother. And that was the last time he ever saw her.

Joker shot up from his chair. His hands were now balled up into fists. Harleen ducked as he picked up his chair and threw it across the room, causing a loud crash.

"Mister J-"

"He killed her!" J screamed even louder. He whipped his head around to face Harleen. The look in his eyes was bone chilling as he stomped over to her. He gripped both of her shoulders roughly. Harleen shut her eyes in fear that he would snap her in half.

Instead, he dropped to his knees and wrapped his arms around her waist.

Harleen's jaw hung open as she looked down at her patient who was now sobbing into her stomach. It was quite a sight. The most feared criminal, clinging to his psychiatrist like a child would to their teddy bear.

Soon, Harleen felt her own tears spill out. She dropped to her knees and held onto J as they both cried their eyes out. All Harleen could do was hold him as he wept. Out of all the reactions this crazy man could've had, he started crying. Neither of them were prepared for this, but both of them needed it.

After what seemed like an eternity, J's crying had finally died down and turned into soft whimpers and sniffles.

"I think this was pretty unexpected for both of us huh, Puddin'?" Harleen's soft voice seemed to calm Joker down even more. He smiled and looked up at her.

"Puddin'.." he laughed. "I like that."

Harley quickly wiped her tears away as soon as she heard the door creak open. There he stood, smiling tiredly at his Harlequin. His purple suit ripped and his clean face bruised and scraped. Harley's eyes lit up as soon as she saw him. Any trace of depression had left her. All she cared about was that he was here.

She ran to him as fast as she could and wrapped herself around him like a koala. Joker chuckled and smiled to himself. "Yes, yes.. I'm home, silly girl." He could sense that something was troubling her the minute he walked in. He saw those tears that she desperately tried to wipe away. He knew what she was thinking about, and he didn't like it.

"You care far too much about me." J grunted, lightly shoving her off.

"Because nobody else does.." Harley said before planting a kiss on his dirt covered nose. "Come on, Puddin'." She grabbed his hand and tugged for him to follow.

"Let's get you cleaned up."
