(This is the part where I said that this part might trigger you. Boyxboy ship starting up in this chapter btw, this is about a week later.)
I woke up and started to pull out my outfit from my drawers.(shown above). I sighed happily, I couldn't wait to get on the bus and sit beside Dax, my boyfriend. Dressed and ready to go, I run downstairs, while holding onto my headphones so they don't fall off my head. I grabbed a glass and poured milk into it while I grabbed a banana, I shrugged my shoulders and whispered to myself, "Oh well, looks like we're having a light breakfast today." My backpack was in the mud room, so I ran there, slung my Pink backpack on my back and headed out the side door.
Once at the bus stop, I texted Dax:
Mel: Morning Dax💕💕
Dax: Hey baby, morning to u as well, are u getting on the bus??
Mel: Yes, I'm at the bus stop waiting.
Dax: Cool, are you doing anything this weekend?
Mel: No.......why??
Dax: Well, we haven't been on a date yet so......Olive Garden at 7 on Saturday?
Mel: Yes!!! Awww I'd love to join you. And oh, bus is here talk to ya irl in a sec!
Dax: Same ❤
(End of messages)
I greeted the bus driver with a slight smile as I walked towards the back. As I go closer, I saw Dax's brown hair peeking over the gray seats of the bus. He looked at me when I plopped down beside him. He smiled warmly and lifted his arm up and put it over my shoulders. I leaned into him, smelling his woodsy cologne. Suddenly, I felt something on the top of my head. I looked up to see Dax kissing the top of my head gently, then pulling me closer to him. I grinned and laid my head back on his shoulder.
We held hands as we walked towards the gym doors, Dax opened the doors for me. We got sat down on the bleachers and shared ear buds, listening to Twenty One Pilots together. What a dream relationship, I thought. The bell rang for 1st as I put away my phone in my purse. Dax and I holding hands the entire time we walked to class. We said our goodbyes and separated, heading to different classes. You'll see him in 3rd block, calm yourself child, I thought.
~Time skip because do I have time to write boring class descriptions? No~
Third block was awesome, as always. Mr. Roman let us play on our phones because it was the last day of school until spring break. I was listening to "Tear In My Heart" and started to sing along but changing every "she" to a "he" as if I was singing to Dax. He must've heard me cause he started to sing along too but keeping the original lyrics, almost singing to me like I was to him. I stared into his blue eyes and I seemed to be lost at sea. Then, all of a sudden, Mr. Roman clears his throat, startling Dax and I. Our teacher said, "Ahem, lovebirds? You want to go to lunch or not?" He was obviously talking to us, so we turned back around. I payed complete attention to the floor for the amount of silence that that moment brought along. I was blushing, I could tell. Mr. Roman then spoke again, "Well," he looked at his watch then resumed speaking, "it's time for lunch now. Ya'll kids line up and we'll head down to the lunch room." The whole class stood up immediately and got in a single-file line, Dax once again standing behind me. Our class proceeded down the hall and to the lunch room
The lunch room was bustling with activity, teenagers walking around everywhere, teachers standing around for no reason. Dax took my hand and said, "Princess, what would you like for lunch?" He grinned and looked down at me.
I blushed and giggled, "Oh, you don't have to buy me lunch. But if you insist, I'll take a salad with Italian vinaigrette, iced tea and a cookie. Well split the cookie, okay love?" Dax nodded his head and led me towards the lunch line.
Dax chose a nice table far away from the commotion, where we could talk in peace. We got sat down and started talking about our upcoming date.
Dax began the conversation, "Okay, so I'll pick you up around 6:45 then we'll head to Olive Garden. My parents said they won't be there to chaperone, so we don't have to worry about them embarrassing us." He ended the last sentence with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I definitely don't wanna be embarrassed by anyone except you because I'll tickle you until you stop." I said while looking at him menacingly. He threw his hands up in surrender. We laughed for a good 3 minutes until someone decided to sit in the table next to ours. I looked over and then panicked a tad. It was Levi and his new friend he talked about in 2nd block. I think his friend's name was Jack, I don't remember exactly. Dax tapped my hand and shot a glance at them, suggesting he was asking who that was.
I whispered to Dax, "You see the boy with black hair? Well, he's my old middle school friend. And the boy across from him, I think it's his new friend he was telling me about." Dax understood and nodded his head. I muttered a quick "BRB" and walked over to Levi's table.
At the table, Levi and Jack's heads snapped up. Then, Levi realized who I was and smiled and waved. Jack did the same. I spoke, needing to ask questions, "Okay, so your name is Jack, right?" Jack happily nodded his head. So, I continued to talk, "Are ya'll like best buds or what?"
Levi finished swallowing his food and spoke, "Yeah, we're best friends, I met him yesterday. We have to do a project together, so we tried to find something in common and Walla! We're friends now!" I smiled and patted Levi on the back. I turned around, about to walk back to Dax and I's table, when Levi grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I was confused, but listened still.
Levi spoke in a hushed tone, "Mel, I need to talk to you about things. Can we go talk somewhere? Please, I don't know who else to talk to." I nodded my head and he stood up. I hugged him quickly, then I told him to wait a second. Dax looked confused, so I explained what I was doing. He understood, then I took Levi by the arm and led him to the courtyard where no one was. We got sat down and I looked at him, I was concerned as to what he was going to tell me.
Levi sighed and said, "Okay, so Mel you remember how I said we just met and how we have so many things in common? Well, I kinda don't like him as a 'friend' anymore. He's actually kinda cute, if you know what I'm talking about." I took his hand and rubbed my thumb over his knuckles, he needed some support right now and that was the best I could do right here and now.
I regained my composure and spoke, "Levi, it's okay if you like another boy. I think it's absolutely adorable. You haven't had a girlfriend nor a boyfriend. I wouldn't hide much longer, you need to tell your parents about this. It's gonna be nerve-racking but you have to do this Levi, I believe in you." Levi looked up and I noticed tears forming in his eyes. I realized I was half-crying as well.
Levi sniffled and talked, his voice cracking everyone and a while, "Thanks Mel. This is why I'm friends with you. I know I need to come out to my parents, but I'm scared. What if they don't support my decision? They might kick me out of the house, if they did that I don't know what I'd do. Maybe, you or Jack could help me? I would be really appreciative if you did."
That question crushed my heart, I knew I couldn't help much. His parents weren't the 'adaptive to new ideas' type. I had to answer him, we couldn't just sit in silence here for the rest of lunch. I took a deep breath in and offered this, "Look, Levi I don't know what much I can do to help, but I can offer you all the support you need. If the do kick you out, you can come live with me. You know I wouldn't mind having a fake brother, especially when it's my old best friend. All I can really say is, stay strong and persevere through whatever your parents throw at you. I'm sorry it's got to be like this, but life isn't easy." Levi stood up and sat down beside me. He laid his head down on the metal table and his shoulders started shaking. I reached over and rubbed his back, trying to calm him. Eventually, I laid my head on his back and tried to offer him emotional support. I realized the lunch bell rang in 15 minutes, I shook Levi gently, telling him we only had 15 minutes.
Levi spoke with a hitched breath, "Mel, I will tell them tonight, but I'm gonna call you before I tell them, hopefully you can give me some advice. Also, after I tell them, I'll call you and if I'm crying then they definitely weren't supportive and if I'm not, then they're fine with it. Okay, see ya girl," Levi stood and I could see his red eyes from crying, he gave me a hug and I waved, running back to the cafeteria where Dax awaited.
Once at the table, Dax looked concerned, he must've seen my slightly red, puffy eyes. He jumped up and hugged me tightly. I did the same until he let go. Dax said, "What the hell happened? Please tell me what happend that made my baby cry."
I shakily smiled and looked up at him, glad to see he was so concerned about why I'm crying. I explained, "I'm fine, but Levi is having problems with his new friend, Jack. He thinks Jack's kinda cute and he doesn't want to come out to his parents because he knows they most likely won't accept the idea of their son being gay." I rubbed my forehead with the heel of my hand, goodness why do headaches hurt so bad. Dax understood immediately and took my hand and pressed his other hand against my forehead. He knew I got migraines easily under high stress or emotional moments. For some odd reason, Dax made it go away. When he removed his hand from my head, the bell rang and we ran to line up. Mr. Roman greeted us and led us back to class, Dax never letting go of my hand. Best. Boyfriend. Ever. Period., I thought.
~Time skip to Mel and Dax in Homeroom~
Dax had told me that he wanted to know more about Levi and I's plan. So, I explained, "Tonight, after supper, Levi is gonna sit his parents down and tell him that he's not interested in girls anymore. He hoped they will support him, but even we both know, they won't. Therefore, we have a backup plan. If they go to the extreme and kick him out of the house, he's gonna live with me for a while. So, basically he'll be my brother for maybe a whole year, I not sure how severe it will be. I told him to persevere through it all and that it'll be alright." I sighed when I finished talking. Dax put his arm around my shoulders again and I leaned into his torso. Tonight for Levi and I was gonna be rough. I hope he'll stay strong. You need to be there for him, he's gonna need you. Coming out isn't easy, especially when you have parents like Levi's. Goodness, I wish I could help, but I can't come out for him. Oh well, he'll persevere, he's tough,I thought.
Dax walked on the bus with me following behind him. We both waved slightly at the bus driver before we went to our assigned seats in the back. He let me sit on the inside, he only does this on Fridays. I nuzzled my head into his chest and fell asleep, almost forgetting all the drama with Levi. Luckily, Dax woke me up with a kiss on the head. I waved goodbye to him and proceeded down the bus aisle.
Once home, I grabbed a sweet tea and a sandwich, I was gonna need plenty of supplies such as: food, phone charger, and lots and lots of tissues. My bed called my name and I answered, falling into all my pillows and blankets. I got situated and began to watch YouTube on my TV, waiting for the one call from Levi that could change his future and mine. I was prepared, I just hope Levi was too.(A/N: Okay, so next chapter will be in Levi's POV. He will be coming out to his parents and Mel and Jack are gonna be super super supportive. Anyways, sorry for the sappy sentences, I just didn't know what else to put to progress the story. I also am soooo happy that we almost have 200 reads, this is a dream come true. I love ya'll so much! ♡ Remember, Stay Alive Frens
