Contract

A contract for the ages

So with hiccup being the new chief of berk, many tales crossed open oceans and islands of a chief with the soul of a dragon who single handedly defeated a Red Death and a Bewilderbeast

And with these tales came chiefs, kings, leaders of all forms coming to berk to ask for an allegiance, in exchange for protection they would offer all resources to the island and its people

But today was one Hiccup, Astrid and Eret were not too keen on

Viggo had returned from his death

AGAIN !!!!!

turns out he was quite lucky to escape with his life when he distracted the dragon hunters and flyers so Hiccup could escape

In the great hall at a large table made entirely of marble and stoicks chair facing him, Viggo sat patiently waiting for the new found chief to enter and take his seat across from him

And ask and thow shall receive that's exactly what happened

The doors to the great hall were opened by Astrid and Eret who held each one open, and soon after Hiccup and Toothless rose into view from the many stairs they climbed to get here

As they entered the hall Eret and Astrid followed them allowing the doors to close themselves, one at each side of hiccup and toothless made all four of them look like a group of mercenary hunters stalking its prey for the final kill

Hiccup took his place in his fathers chair with Astrid and Eret at his side and Toothless behind him, viggo showed no sign of intimidation

Instead he gave a smile and a chuckle

"my my Hiccup I must say I love what you have done with the place it looks magnificent, and you Astrid my dear you look not a day older than when we last met" he said keeping his posture up straight and holding eye contact

Eret snarled and spoke "flattery will get you no where Hunter" he growled

Hiccup raised his hand to silence him before he jumped onto the table and killed him "now now Eret, viggo here is the only reason I'm still alive, he distraced the hunters long enough to allow me and toothless to escape, so if you aren't going to behave yourself I'm pretty sure the stables need a good clean out" he said turning his head just enough to glance at him

Eret quickly adjusted himself upright and straight like he should be before he was shovelling dragon droppings "yes chief, my apologies" he said

Hiccup leaned over to astrid and whispered to her "make sure he is on patrol for the next three days with the twins and snotlout" he whispered quietly to her as getting a small nod of acknowledgement from astrid in return

Viggo then got all eyes in his direction when he started to laugh "gods above hiccup you really have gone far haven't you, first you trained dragons and now you train your people"

*THUNK*

Viggo almost lost his other eye from a dagger that landed right next to his head almost trimming his hair, but the blade did not come from any of those seated across from him

Instead it came from an armoured ginger haired bulky berserker who had just come into the hall to hear what Viggo was saying

Viggo couldn't even be angry at him since he was the one riding the skill currently as it was the dragon that is painted on his tribes crest

"no that would be me who trains the people" he scowled, Viggo didn't even blink "ahh dagur so lovely to see you again, nice shot, have you been practicing" he said with a smirk

Hiccup put his head in his hands in frustration "oh for the love of thor" he sighed "did I miss something, is it nationwide try to kill the chiefs guest day or something"

Dagur walk towards them all with a serious look on his face "not this time chief, and I must apologise for the intrusion but we have a problem" he said

Hiccup stood from his chair and put his arm around dagurs shoulder and the two walk slightly away privately so no one would hear them "what kind of problem?" he said quietly

"Heather flew back to dragons edge in hope to find some old maps we had back there and what she saw can't be possible but she assures me it is" he said with what sounded like fear in his voice

"what did she see Dagur" hiccup said look Dagur dead in the eyes

"she claims that she saw your father standing at the mouth of the volcano, just............ Staring at her, and when she got closer he just dissapeared, like he was a ghost" he shuddered at the thought of the dead coming back to haunt them

"ghost or no ghost Dagur if what Heather is saying is true then that means my father is alive and somehow survived what happened on the island" he said with excitement but also fear in his voice

"rally the scouts and go to dragons edge, and also take astrid with you, if anything he will recognise his daughter in law first if he doesn't remember anything but he should be okay" he said getting a nod from Dagur who quickly ran out the great hall and shouted "dragon rider scouts mount up on me in five"

Hiccup then turned his attention to viggo who was still sat there silently, he walked over and pushed the contract and a charcoal pencil towards him

"If you truly want this viggo then I suggest you sign and we can work on our friendship slowly, or you can walk away and next time I see you I might have to kill you" he said handing him the pencil

Viggo looked at the pencil and thought for a moment before grabbing it and scribbling his name on the paper

"I don't know what happened to your father hiccup but if you'll allow me I can help Dagur and the others track down your father and bring him home" viggo said holding his hand out waiting for hiccup to shake and make it official

Hiccups hook viggos hand and nodded "go catch Dagur down at the docks, he will assign you a dragon and will give you the briefing, and if I hear any funny business from you or about you I will not hesitate to kill you myself" hiccup said giving viggo a serious but trusting face

Viggo nodded and walked out the door with astrid towards the docks to begin the hunt for hiccups father

Eret couldn't help but speak up "hiccup, I don't want to be that one guy but what if this is a trap"

"then they will answer to me" hiccup replied walking out the great hall

Eret sighed and followed him out "I was afraid you'd say that" he sighed
