"Daddy, where are you?", yelled a teen aged girl as she cried in the narrow alley beside the library. Her cry got interrupted by the growls of hungry dogs that were walking around the alley trying to find the last bits of food as the sun shined brightly above them.

She was tall, with hazel eyes and dark brown hair. Tears were streaming down her face as the dry wind blew through her mane. She was shivering and hugging herself tightly as if afraid to let go and loose herself amidst the dust and clouds. She was sitting against the wall covered in sweat and tears trying to lift her eyelashes with the weight of her tears to find where the voice of a moaning creature was coming for. She flickered her long wet lashes and saw a pup walking listlessly towards her. She got up and starting walking on her trembling feet towards it, sitting next to it and started petting his fluffy fur, the dog looked at her and wagged its tail vigorously. The breath taking beauty smiled staring wide-eyed at the little black ball of fur. She slowly untied a knot at the end of her scarf to take a piece of bread out. She took her lunch out and started feeding it to the pup. The adorable little thing ate the bread from her hands with sparkling eyes. The girl sat beside the pup as he finished eating and she continued staring at him in awe. Suddenly, a woman who looked as if she was in her early twenties came running towards her and helped her stand up.

"What are you doing here?" the woman asked looking at her dry tears.

"My dad.....," the girl struggled to speak.

Before she could finish her sentence a bomb blasted, 'BOOM!'.  Everybody ran to find a safe place, the birds flew away from the falling trees in the dusky sky and the poor animals got buried under shattered glass and broken doors, the earth swallowed everything so swiftly the doors flew off the hinges slamming down on the piling ground. The anonymous woman held the teen's arm tightly and headed towards an old car. Soon, the market was covered in smoke, dust and broken buildings. It was nothing new for the people who lived in Al- Salamiyah, Syria.

The woman extended her hand towards the car to pull the door open but before she could do so the adolescent released her hand from the woman's grip and ran back towards the ruins. The woman turned around and stared at her in utter shock as she went to the narrow dark alley she was sitting in. She grabbed the puppy hiding behind a broken door and started running back towards the car. The woman waved her hands up in the air asking the daredevil to hurry up. She came back to the car gulping for air, the woman opened the back door and directed her to sit in swiftly. She quietly sat down in the car and looked at the handsome dark haired man sitting in the driver's seat through the rear mirror. The man looked in the mirror and caught her gazing at him, she quickly looked away, trying to avoid eye contact.

The blue eyed woman sat in the front seat and directed the man to drive towards her house. The man obediently obeyed her and started driving. During the ride, the young female's mind was occupied by her dad's unexpected diappearance. After a silent and long ride that seemed to have taken an eternity, the car finally halted in front of a tiny, eerie house. She looked out the window at the house as fear ran through her body, she didn't know who these people were and she'd just come so far with them. She wanted to say something but her words didn't make it to her dry chapped lips, she'd been grieving about her father since the morning and was feeling extremely weak. The woman sitting in the front broke the silence by opening the car's door. She got out of the car and then opened the door for the dark haired girl holding a puppy to step out.
