8 years later.......
I was walking down a crowded downtown street of Glendale as the sun shined brightly above me. Finally, I saw the board of the public library and entered, today was Saturday and that meant it was poetry club. I loved writing my own poetry and listening to others creations as well, that's why it was my favourite hobby. It's kind of weird that a twenty year old boy who wants to become a doctor loves poetry. I mean I personally always thought that old people were fans of poetry and in the club all of the members were seniors except for me. I was right on time, I opened the door of the community room and got in. A girl probably around my age was sitting at the table and writing something in her journal. She had hazel eyes and dark brown hair and looked quite tall as well. "Ma'am I think you are in the wrong room, this is the room for the poetry club," I politely told the young lady."I'm here for the poetry club, I just joined it today," replied the girl.
"Oh hi! My name is Caden Copeland, Nice to meet you!" I said as I stretched my hands toward her for a handshake.
"Hi, My name is Allonia Shah," replied Allonia as she ignored my hand. I looked into her deep eyes behind her glasses and stared at her even after she turned away for a couple of moments. It felt like the whole world had stopped and me and her were the only ones here. Then, I realized that I was still holding out my hand for a handshake. I quickly took my hand back and sat down beside her. As time passed, more of the members started joining us and soon everybody started introducing themselves to Allonia. She got up and met everybody one by one. I just sat there with my hand under my chin and looked at her as the fan blew her hair onto her face. She is a piece of poetry beyond understanding.
"Okay, so today everybody will be sharing a piece of poetry they wrote or found and then we will discuss some other types of poetry," Mrs.Cormas (the founder of the club) interrupted my thoughts. I stopped staring and straightened up as Allonia motioned to sit.
"So who would like to start the class off?" asked Mrs.Cormac. Allonia and a couple of others raised their hands. Mrs. Cormac pointed towards Allonia and asked her to read the poetry. She started reading in her sweet voice, her voice melodic capable of putting thousands to rest,
"Walking through the seasons with you
Watching the colors drain from the loose leaves
Stepping on them to hear the soothing crunch heal my grieves
Autumn gradually fading into a still winter
Crispy snow making my vision squinter
In the blink of a second the blinding light embodied us"
"Awesome!", exclaimed Mrs. Corman as she got up and everybody snapped.
"Thank you!", replied Allonia as her cheeks turned red.
"So Allonia is that an original piece written by you?," asked Mr. Williams eagerly.
"Yeah I tried putting something together," she replied timidly.
"Well then, the poetry club has indeed found a very talented star," Mrs. William replied with a bright broad smile.
"So, who would like to go next?" questioned Mrs.Cormac. A lot of other people raised their hand and one by one all of them got chosen. Everyone's poems slurred by, I just sat their staring at Allonia and trying to unravel her shyness when suddenly Ms. Cormac asked me to share my poetry. I merely got up trying to be as polite as possible and cleared my throat. My face turned pink as I got up, I think everyone in that class had seen me staring at Allonia when Ms. Cormac called me out because all of them had mischievous smiles plastered on their faces. I started,
"You found love on tinder,
You promised to never linger,
Then I made you a limper,
Bye, bye stinker!"
Most people laughed hysterically at my little poem but some gave me a very embarrassed look. "Okay, Okay don't be disappointed that wasn't my poem, that was just a joke which some of you didn't find very funy so I take it back, I'm sorry, " I said with a broad smile and this time everyone smiled back.
"When he shall die,
Take him out and cut him in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with Night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun
~By William Shakespeare"
I ended as everyone snapped. "Shakespeare is incomparable!" yelled Mrs. Gatowski from one corner of the class.
I was the last one to present so soon after I finished everyone started leavong. I headed towards my seat to grab my backpack and saw Allonia leaving. I quickly got my bag and ran behind her until I caught up.
"Would you like to drink coffee with me please," I asked trying to catch my breath finally walking at a normal speed respectfully.
"Sure and thank you for asking but can we go the next time because I have an appointment right now. I'm very sorry!"replied Allonia turning around walking away from me.
"No problem but we'll drink coffee together for sure next Saturday," I replied as I smiled back and waved her a goodbye.
