Tokyo Ghoul || Ayato x Human Reader

I jumped at the sound of the window opening.

"Damnit Ayato. You can't walk through the door like a normal person?" I looked through my kitchen to where the ghoul was stood in my living room.

"Shut up. I don't want to be seen by anyone."

"Like a shadow of the night, The deadly Ayato Kirishima sneaks into his unsuspecting girlfriend's house to try and look cool and mysterious." I chuckled to myself as I carried on eating my pasta. He walked through into the kitchen and sat down on the chair opposite me.

"How can you eat that crap?" Ayato looked at my food, disgusted.

"I can eat it because I'm human and I don't exactly like the taste of my own kind."

"Whatever." He leaned back in the chair.

"So what did you want?" I asked, finishing my bowl of pasta. I walked over to the sink and placed the bowl in. I started to wash up all the pots from today. Ayato stood up and walked behind me. He wrapped his strong arms around my waist and placed his face into my (H/C) hair.

"I can't see my girlfriend without wanting something?" He murmured. Sending shivers down my neck and onto my back. I started blushing. A year we've been together and I'm still not used to this.

*Flashback*

It was a cold night. Ayato was on the window ledge of his next meal's house. 'She should be alone' he thought to himself. He gently opened the window and crept inside. He heard her by the phone and he couldn't help but listen.

"Dad? Why are you leaving again?" Ayato stopped short.

He heard her father reply and she answered again.

"But you're always leaving me for these stupid missions. I haven't seen you in months." Ayato got the memory of when his father left.

He heard the father yell a reply before it was silent. The girl sank to the floor and started to cry. He kept his back to the wall.

'She's just a human. What are you waiting for? Kill her!' Voices and thoughts flew around his head. He came out from behind the wall and she didn't move for a second until she slowly lifted her head. The girl had tears running down her face.

"Great. A ghoul. Just be quick ok?" She mumbled. Ayato released his kagune as he readied himself to kill her.

Her eyes widened.

"Woah. What a beautiful kagune. Amazing." He stopped short. Ayato had never been called...Beautiful. He looked down, avoiding her gaze. His kagune went away.

"What? Are you not going to kill me?"

"Your father. Where is he?" He asked. She looked down for a second

"He works in the CCG. My mum is dead so I'm alone for most of the time."

"You're alone?"

"Uh-huh. No siblings and no friends. Barely any family. You probably have it harder than me. I mean...you're a ghoul. Being constantly hunted because of what you eat. Your kind needs to survive just as much as ours do."

They ended up talking for hours until Ayato got hungry and left the girl. He promised that he'd be back the next night and he kept his promise.

*flashback*

We stood there for a while before I turned around and wrapped my arms around his chest. I buried my face into his scarf.

"I went by Anteiku today. The place burned down a couple of nights ago. You know about that?"

He stiffened.

"Do you not watch the news? The Ghoul VS the CCG war happened on the 20th ward. Someone burned Anteiku down and they still don't know who."

"I know about that. My dad was in it. Were you involved?"

"Take a guess."

"Dammit Ayato."

I pushed myself away and walked into the living room.

"What?" Ayato followed behind me.

"I hate it when you do that." I crossed my arms and looked away.

"Do what?"

"Get involved with things like this. You could be killed at any moment. What would I do then?"

He was silent for a second. Thinking over what I just said.

"(Y/N). You would find a human boy to look after you. If I died, it would be better for you..."

"No it wouldn't, Ayato. It would make it a living hell. You're the one thing that's keeping me sane. My dads barely home, I have no friends and no siblings. Without you I'm alone."

He hugged me again and turned me around.

"I'll try to be more careful. Just stop whining about it."

He kissed me gently and made his way towards the window.

"Night (Y/N)"

"Good night Ayato." He jumped out of the window and activated his kagune before he landed. Ayato's kagune was beautiful.
