Chapter Five

MIKE

"Congratulations little brother, you and Tony will be great dads."

Vic's support meant a lot to me. he was cool with us keeping Lily at the house until Tony and I could find our own place. Tony and Jaime's apartment was only big enough for the two of them, so Vic agreed Lily could have the small spare room which was currently an extension of Danielle's ever growing wardrobe.

"Who'll be a great dad Vic?"

Danielle saunters into the kitchen and wraps her arms around Vic's waist. Summer comes in a few seconds later and sits down on one of the stalls staring up at Vic. I scratch my head, hadn't Vic told them anything.

"Tony and I are adopting this afternoon, and until Tony and I find our own place she'll be staying here."

Danielle glares at Vic, "and where will she be sleeping, Vic?"

Vic clears his throat, "you have a lot of clothes you never wear babe and it's taking up the spare room. I'll need you to move some things so Lily can have some space."

Summer gasps, "You're adopting Frankenstein's monster?"

I clench my fist under the counter, Summer was rude and Danielle looked proud of her new daughter while Vic looked annoyed.

He slams his hands down on the counter, "Summer don't you dare call her that name again. I won't have you bullying her once Mike and Tony adopt her."

Summer's eyes widen in terror at Vic's outburst. She huffs and runs out of the kitchen. Danielle pushes away from Vic and runs after her daughter.

"Tony and I will try and find an apartment soon Vic. I don't want to get in the way of your family."

Vic shakes his head, "I won't have my daughter become a bully, Mike. You're my brother and I guess I'll be Lily's uncle which makes her family so stay as long as you want."

I get up and pat my brother on the back, he always looked out for me and I knew he'd love Lily like she was his own. Now I needed to pick up my boyfriend and then we'd pick up our new daughter. Tony had rung ahead and Lily would be packed, though we told Miss Fletcher to keep our identities secret. We'd also bought Lily a stuffed turtle and giraffe to go along with her panda. I couldn't wait to be a dad and neither could Tony.

LILY

Miss Fletcher came into my room and told me a couple were going to adopt me today so I needed to pack. All she would tell me was that the couple were two guys, I was happy and had no problem with being raised by two dads.

Today I felt girly and Miss Fletcher helped me pick out a knitted black dress that had white pockets to make me look like a panda, paired with some black and white Converse which had been a birthday present, and a new panda beanie on my head. She plaited my hair and it hung over one shoulder, and since I didn't feel like putting my contacts in today I wore my glasses which made me look like a nerd. Or as Miss Fletcher called me, an adorable nerd.

I didn't have much to pack because I hadn't been here that long, but my toy collection was my pride and joy. My favourite panda toy was sat on my lap as I waited in the reception for the people who were going to adopt me. They were in the office signing some papers and each second had me excited.

While I stared at my shoes the office door opens and two sets of shoes stand in front of me. I take a deep breath and look up at my new dads. My eyes widen as I take in two familiar faces.

"Tony? Mike? What are you doing here? Are you adopting someone?"

TONY

I wanted to squeal at Lily's level of cuteness as she pushes her glasses up her nose. Mike took the initiative and crouched down to her level, I was still in shock as to how much she looked like me with the glasses. Maybe it was fate we met each other.

"We're here to adopt you, Lily. Would you like us to be your new dads?"

She squeals and throws herself at Mike who's able to catch her and hold her on his waist easily as he gets back to his feet. She claps her hands together and nods her head enthusiastically.

"Yes! Thank you! I love both of you!"

Mike smiles before handing her off to me, "I'll grab your bags, Lily."

I sit Lily on my waist and awe as she buries her head into my chest, the ears on her panda beanie tickling my chin. I hear the snap of a camera and look up to see Mike holding his phone.

"She looks like a smaller version of you turtle."

Lily pouts, "Tony's human Mike, how can he be a turtle? He doesn't have a shell."

To make her point she pats my back. Mike cracks a smile and pats her head, "it's a nickname Lily. Tony's shy like a turtle. I'm called giraffe because I'm tall and now we need to give you an animal nickname."

Lily's eyes widen and she instinctively clutches her panda toy to her chest, it was a habit of hers. I knew her nickname, it was obvious.

"You'll be panda Lily because you love pandas."

She claps her hands together and buries her face back into my chest. Mike chuckles and motions towards the front door, it was about time we got Lily out of this place and started her new life.

Mike puts her bags in the trunk of his car while I strap Lily into the booster seat In the backseat we'd bought before picking her up. We bought her some other furniture like a bed and a wardrobe, and Vic and Jaime were at the house building it.

"Are you ready to start your new life, Lily?"

Mike sounds excited as he gets into the driver's seat and glances at Lily in the backseat. She gives me a thumbs up before going back to playing with her panda toy.

"I'm happy we did this Mike."

I take Mike's hand over the console and stroke his knuckles. He grins and leans over to peck my lips. Maybe Lily would be the kick in the butt we needed to make our relationship grow. In the backseat, Lily clears her throat causing both me and Mike to look back at her.

"If you're both my dad's who's name do I have?"

Mike sighs, "You're now Lily Perry Fuentes, a combination of both mine and Tony's last names."

Lily giggles, "I really like my new name, thank you dads."

I reach over the divide and pat her panda on the head, "you'll be living with Mike until him and I find our own place. But I'm still going to see you every day."

She nods and I turn back in my seat. I knew she'd be okay at Mike and Vic's, but it was Summer and Danielle I was worried about. The sooner Mike and I found our own place the better.
