Chapter Nineteen

4 MONTHS LATER

LILY

"Your dads are going to love you in that dress Lily, you will be the cutest girl at the wedding."

I giggle and do a turn showing off the long sleeve white lace dress I was going to wear to the wedding to Jessica and Lucy, Jaime and Vic's new girlfriends.

"Jessica and I don't even know if we can compete with you, Lily. All eyes will be on you."

I liked Jessica and Lucy, they were lovely. Yes at first I was unsure after my past with Danielle but they made Jaime and Vic very happy which made me like them even more.

"We'll find you two dresses that make you look beautiful, all eyes will be on the three of us."

"So you're what he traded me in for, no amount of makeup or clothes will make you look prettier Lucy. God Vic was swinging low, where did he find you? Goodwill."

I freeze knowing that voice anywhere, turning around I come face to face with Danielle who hadn't changed one bit. How dare she be mean to Lucy who had a heart of gold. Lucy looks close to tears but Jessica stands in front of us squaring off with Danielle.

"Lucy take Lily into the changing room while I put this bitchy red head in her place once and for all."

I take Lucy's hand and the two of us head into the changing room just as Jessica starts to insult Danielle back. Lucy slumps down on the chair and starts to cry.

"Maybe she's right Lily, I'm not pretty enough for Vic. She was a model and I'm a regular plain Jane who draws in her free time. He can do so much better than me."

I shake my head, "you're beautiful Lucy and kind, and you're nice to everyone and never fail to make people smile. Give me your phone and I'll prove Vic loves you."

She hands me her phone and I ring up Vic who picks up on the second ring.

"Hello gorgeous how's the trip with the girls?"

Vic was too cute on the phone.

"It's Lily, we were dress shopping when Danielle showed up and called Lucy mean names. Can you tell her how beautiful she is Uncle Vic? Because I don't think she believes me."

Vic sighs, "I knew this day would come, Danielle's jealous I moved on and found someone nicer. Where's Jessica?"

"She's putting Danielle in her place, now talk to your girlfriend."

I thrust the phone at Lucy and she mouths 'thanks, kid' before perking up as soon as she hears Vic's voice. I get out of the dress and back into my comfortable clothes and decide to see how Jessica was doing. I didn't want her to be left alone with Danielle no matter how tough she was.

Jessica and Danielle were still going at it, but Jessica slaps Danielle leaving her silent. I giggle as Danielle picks up her bag and storms out of the dress shop. Jessica's eyes go wide upon seeing me stood there smiling.

"You didn't see that Lily, you should never slap someone even if they are being rude to you okay?"

I nod and make a cross over my chest, "secret safe with me Jess, I left Lucy talking to Vic."

Jessica crouches down in front of me and brushes my fringe off my face, "you're too precious Lily. I can only hope one day to have such a nice kid with Jaime."

I squeal, "You love Uncle Jaime? Ship it so hard."

"Who ships who out here?"

Lucy appears behind Jessica and I immediately make an 'up' motion with my hands and she picks me up, handing the flower girl dress to Jessica who'd gone beetroot red.

"She ships me and Jaime, I may have also mentioned wanting a kid like her one day with Jaime."

This time Lucy squeals making me cover my ears, she could rival my volume.

"Hopefully they have your brains and looks Jess, then Jaime's musical talent."

"That's a long way off you two, let's wait until after Mike and Tony's wedding."

Lucy and I share a knowing look, Jaime and Jessica are end game just like Lucy and Vic.

"Can we get ice cream please?"

Both girls laugh, why did people laugh whenever I asked for ice cream, it was a serious part of my diet.
