Cannon fire seemed to never cease and the town hasn't been given a break from the gruelling ambush.

The wild delinquents crawled out from broken windows of shops, brandishing their weapons, yelling and howling as they shoved away whatever unfortunate soul crossed their paths and thrust their blades into whatever flesh they came across. Redcoats flooded the streets, loud bangs erupted from their guns, which merged with the explosions of cannons like a terrible symphony.

Turning a corner into a square surrounded by two-story structures, Charlotte staggered her way through, heading towards an arch leading to the main street. Just as she had reached it she heard a gurgling yell from behind and came to a sudden stop. Turning on her heel, she spotted a pirate running towards her, his black matted hair sprung out in all ends and in his hand, he carried a club.

Charlotte blinked as he toppled forward, his nose landing into the cobblestone ground.

There was a small axe lodged into his back and all was clear. Her instincts flooded with panic and she quickly looked around in alarm. She spotted a shadowy figure ahead, and she grounded her heels to the ground. ready to escape.

The figure then stepped into the moonlight. It was Will.

"Will!" Charlotte called out breathlessly.  Will stepped over the arm of the fallen pirate, he bent down to free his axe.

"I just hope he stays where he is." Will mumbled, looking up at Charlotte who was staring at him questioningly.  "Are you alright?" he then asked before she could utter her question, inspecting her for any sign of injury. A Chestnut tendril had fallen over his forehead.

"Yes, I'm fine." Charlotte replied breathlessly, "Will, they've taken Elizabeth."

Will's eyes widened, his forehead creasing, "What? Where have they taken her?"

"To their captain, but we still have time, but we mustn't waste it..." Charlotte trailed off then turned to look at Will, "do you have a sword?"

Will blinked at her and she saw his hand twitch towards his side. It was a question she already knew the answer to.

"I don't think that's such a good idea, Charlotte..."

"We'd be better off being both armed in case one of us need a form of defence."

Will considered her words momentarily, sighed then unfasted the belt with a single hand and handed it to her. She quickly tightened the belt and looped it through the buckle. It'd be heavier now to walk and run with but at least she felt more secure.

She gave Will a nod and the two jogged off after Elizabeth.
