I woke to the sound of everyone shuffling around the cabin. I groggily rubbed my eyes, not wanting to wake from the hard-gained sleep. Rissi was up and going. She had already gotten her uniform from her pack under the bed, and hit the bed frame next to my face to wake me up.

"C'mon lazy bones. Up and at 'em."

I groaned and turned my back to her. She looked at my ignorance and smiled. Next thing I know she is on my back wrapping her legs around my waist and flipping me toward the edge of bed. She hoisted me over the railing and I barely grabbed the edge before I fell out completely. I screamed in surprise, and held onto the rim for dear life.

"Look down nut-head." She held up two fingers. "Two inches."

I looked down and realized my big toe was just hovering above the concrete floor.

I turned back to her and gave her a glare. "You have a death-wish don't you?"

She laughed at me then jumped down from the top bunk where my warm sheets still lay. It's too much work to get back in bed now.

I let go, letting my feet hit the cold floor, and start for my pack under the bed. I grab my clothes and go to take a quick shower and change into my uniform. Once I finish that I go to brush my teeth. I look into the mirror and notice bags under my eyes- probably from lack of sleep. Then I make the mistake of looking into my eyes. I remember the evil woman, and turn away. Hoping to forget the nightmare.

"Grab your gear. The bag has your name on it. Then stand in a line so I can see all your pretty little faces." Commands Captain Goodstalk.

We follow the captain's instructions and line up. He paces while he talks in his deep raspy voice. "You all have been placed into groups according to your skill and will be with these groups throughout the entire mission. No if's, and's, or but's. The only exception will be when your mission leader, Chrissi, gives you your group for night shifts. I will list off all of the members in the six groups and the information will be given to her, so there is no changing it."

Captain Goodstalk starts to list names for group one, the highest group, which consists of Evany, Domonic, Mason, Thylla, Nick, Rissi, me, and a girl named Sabrina.

The Captain continues to shout off names for the other five groups, none of them which I recognize, so I tune out and face Mason and Rissi.

"Hey. Who is she?" Mason said pointing to a blond, tan, girl, who was just standing by herself near our group.

"I donno. Let's see what's up with her." Said Rissi.

We walked over to her and asked her name.

"Sabrina." She answered. "I'm the one that no one knows."

"Just because we don't know you now doesn't mean we can't work at it." Mason held out his hand. "I'm Mason."

I held my hand out next. "I'm Valora."

"Call her Lora." Rissi teases. "Actually, I like that. It's got a nice ring to it."

"I know you. You're the one who took on that monster. Right?" Sabrina asks.

"Yup that's me."

"And I'm Rissi." Rissi interrupted. "The one that never stops talking."

"I'm Nick." Nick introduced himself, budding into our conversation completely.

I realize that I now have a little group. My own little squad. Someone I can fall on and someone that I have to catch.

Once the Captain gave us each our groups we grabbed our bags, and headed for the transporter. There were ten circles in which we had to stand, and we each took one.
