From the brink of dawn till now, Signe, Mark, Sam and I have been swimming farther away from the Irish shorelines and out into the ocean below the waves. Signe has been steering us past rocks, over sand dooms, avoiding coral sprawls to where should be the Merrow's hiding place. As I held Mark's hand throughout the whole travel, making sure he kept speed with us Merrow and Sam, I could barely focus on anything around me. It was as if the world surrounding myself was a blur. All my mind could think about was how now, after so many years of doubting myself that I would ever see anyone else in my life, I was going to meet my family and species today. My whole body was severely shaking from the exciting reality; Today was going to be the day...

"Hmm, they should be this way..." Signe's contemplating voice yanked me out from my daze as I blinked quickly to banish my thoughts. I was startled for a mere second, trying to regain clarity of where we were from my long lack of attention to my surroundings. I looked around and saw us floating over a large span of sand as far was the eye could see. The sea bed was flat with sand ripples covering the ground, only stray outcrop rocks and a few poking clutters of coral disturbed the leveled sand. The bright morning light filtered easily through the water and tinted the sea with a beautiful light blue, causing the sand to glimmer neatly. My once cheerful and whimsical emotion turned rapidly into concern. I gazed towards Mark and saw his eyes were narrowed and his gaze was full of anxiousness.

"You don't know where we're going?" Mark asked subtlety, the red cloak that was swaddled around his shoulders swayed elegantly in the water currents, masking the broad rugged body that laid underneath such a beautiful glistening fabric. Signe turned her face to us, her wide innocent green eyes were drowning in stress as her thin lips were drawn back to show nervously gritted teeth. "No no, I-I know where we are! It's just that I'm trying to retrace how the scientists took me away..." She looked around frantically, inspecting the landscape with staining eyes as she held a finger to her chin, tapping it lightly in concentration.

"Oh! I was over there! I remember! I was searching along the sea bed for lobsters to eat near those rocks when I was then caught by a large net!" She pointed towards a distant pile of scattered rocks trailing down sand slopes with a giddy figure. "Oh that means their this way!" She flicked her tail swiftly, twisting her body the opposite direction and clapping her hands giddily, a wide smile was perked on her face as she let out a triumphant laugh. Sam bolted from beside me and twirled around in the water, clicking joyfully as I followed him and Singe with Mark's hand gripped tightly in my grasp.

"You got caught in a net also?" I questioned as I glanced intriguingly over to Signe. Once I said that, her bright expression was slowly coated with gloom, her eyes dulled over with clouded thoughts as a disappointed sigh blew heavily from her mouth. As she lifted her head to look at me, her gaze was brimmed with hurt and painful memories. "Yes.." She finally answered, her lip quivered slightly before she continued to speak. "I should've known better than to go this close to the shorelines..." She ducked her head reluctantly with shame and regret, her face buried within curtains of long golden hair curls. As I looked at Signe, I could sense the same insufferable pang radiating off her that I felt when I was captured near my coast. It was the feeling of sheer terror gripping at your heart when you realize you might have squandered your life, not knowing if you would ever see your home again or even be able to live to see the next day. Being taken by strange beings who you've been taught to hate... Well, I was never told to hate them of course... No one did...

"But we're so far away from the shorelines now! Wouldn't this is be an ok distance?" Mark leaned his head closer with baffled eyes, his voice teemed with surprise as he held my hand firmly while swimming. "I guess not..." Signe shrugged solemnly. "No distance seems to be far enough for us..." She glanced sadly over to Mark and I, her eyes reflecting years of bottled emotional strain. "It seems like humans are everywhere these days... There on the beaches, there on big boats in the water, they sometimes even swim in the ocean! That's why the Merrow are so secluded down under the water..."
