Love Struck

chapter 10

It had been two months since tolu, left for the united States of America. He had gone to monitor the progress on the planning of the upcoming branch. Tolu had decided melody was to stay back, so as for her to answer to personal businesses he couldn't attend to at the moment, due to his trip.

Melody had been feeling a little bit sick for the past one week, she decided to call the office and stay home.

" You are sure you don't need to go see a doctor", asked claribel, who had a worried expression on her face.

"I would be fine, just help me out with my meds and breakfast", she replied weakly.

"Okay then, I have to get ready for work.  I would attend to your needs before leaving", then she hurried into the bathroom.

Melody rushed to the bathroom for the third time that morning. After vomiting, she rinsed out her mouth and sat on the floor.

"What sin have I committed, to deserve this?" , she said looking up to nothing but the ceiling.

She decided to go the hospital later that evening ,when she wasn't feeling any better. The doctor asked a few questions,  took a few blood samples and left for the lab.

An hour later, "so what's the diagnosis?", melody asked impatiently, she disliked hospitals a lot.

The doctor adjusted her glasses , assesed melody for a few seconds, quietly and professionaly.

"I see no ring on your hand", the doctor stated plainly while reading melodies profile.

"I fail to see, how that has any relevance, as to why I am here", melody replied irritatedly.

"Very well then..............you are five weeks pregnant" she said, already knowing the response she would get from an unaware mother to be.

"Pregnant!!!!!, oh my God, how did this happen? ", she said absent mindedly.

"Well, when you have unprotected sex that's what happens " she commented dryly, looking at her watch then said "feel free to come in for medical advice, anytime", then she walked out of the room to attend to her other patients.

Melody couldn't think straight later that evening, "my mother would be dissapointed,  if she hears about this. Twenty three, unmarried and pregnant...and I am not sure on  how tolu would take this", she said to claribel.

It was suprising for claribel to hear the breaking news.

"I did think if anyone was to ever get pregnant outside of marriage, I would be the one out of us both", she commented.

"Why haven't you told mr cutie? "

"I am scared he would react differently. He never wanted a relationship in the first place and now I spring a child on him...", she started sobbing.

"And what the hell is that supposed to mean, it takes two to have a baby. You never forced him to date you, he wanted to. If you don't call him, I would and lord help him he says anything stupid", claribel was getting vexed from this whole episode.

"Please don't, I want him to come back from his trip first before telling him", she pleaded and was in a lot of tears now.

"Okay baby, come to mama, we would get past all this and everything would be allright", she grabbed melody and rocked her to sleep...

Tolu just came back from the airport and was on his way to see melody, since it was a weekend. He was in contact with melody until three days ago when, she stopped picking his calls.

Melody was so excited to see tolu, he had lost weight a little, still he looked has handsome has ever.

"I have missed you mel, I was worried when you stopped picking my calls", he said without really caring for an explanation.  She was right here in his arms and that was all that mattered.

"I have something to tell you.......tolu", she said sadly.

He noticed her mood wasn't all that bright since he arrived but he planned to lighting her up.

"Before you say anything" he interrupted.

He dragged his bag from beside the chair and got something out. She didn't notice this gesture, she was deep in thought on how to spill the beans.

"Through this trip I embarked on, I realised one thing, that life without you is meaningless and lonely". He got on his knees.

Melody was about to say something, but he stopped her from interrupting this moment. Now her eyes were on him questioningly, as for what this scene was about.

"Mel!. ...I don't want this sort of relationship anymore...", he was still on his knees.

She felt death had come for her at that moment,"wha....". She was weakened to the bones.

"Shhhhh....I haven't finished" he said, "this is because, I want you to be my forever and I yours. Would you marry me mel?"

Melody heard this statement in a frenzy..
"Say that again", she asked in a shocked manner.

He chuckled "would you be my wife mel?"

Melody jumped on him with the skill of a gymnast and kissed him for an answer.

"I would. ...I would. ....I would", she said joyously.

"Oh mel, you are the best", then he kissed her deeply.

"I have a suprise for you", she said in between the kiss.

"Oooooh, I love suprises, although I doubt it would beat the one I just gave you", he said smiling like a ten year old.

"Hmm I think it will............we are pregnant", she said confidently now, assured that he wouldn't react badly.

Tolu sat still and quiet for some seconds, no emotions were shown on his face. Melody was starting to worry.

"Tolu?" She called.

"Did you just say pregnant?",  he asked calmly.

"I am sorry...I...." she began to say..

"Pregnant!!!!!!!!!, I love you mel", he jumped up merrily.

"You are?", she asked.

"Why wouldn't I, oh my.... today is the best day of my life" he looked at melody with more love and tenderness in his eyes.

Melody stared crying, this were tears of joy. Tolu now realising the reason her mood was low,sat beside her and cuddled her dearly.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?", he asked calmly.

In between her sobs she said "I didn't know how you would take it.....I didn't also want you to feel tied down to me because of this..".

"I love you mel and would never abandon you and our baby", he pecked her gently.

"Although one thing I am sure of is, he would be good looking like me". Then he pecked her forehead still smiling.

She looked up at him and laughed.

"Who said it was a boy.......you are the best and I love you tolu", then she kissed him passionately.

"Well I think I have been love Struck by you my darling mel" and they got into passionate hot love making on the couch.
