Love Struck

chapter 14

Months had passed, so did the day of melodies labour arrive. Tolu was pacing restlessly in the hallway of the hospital in british Colombia, canada.

"Dear God please help my darling wife through this", he took a look at the direction of the labour room, there was still no sign of the doctor's or a nurse.

"How long does it take for a baby to be born!", he asked himself impatiently.

They had arrived at the hospital, about two hours ago and she had been in the labour room for over an hour. He was trembling now.

"Hope nothing has happened to my wife", he asked himself worriedly.

He walked up to one of the nurses passing by. "Have u heard anything concerning the woman in the labour room?".

"Calm down sir, everything is and would be allright", she replied and walked on.

Five minutes later the doctor came out of the labour room and walked up to him, "you are the father?", he asked calmly.

"Yes I am.....how is she?".

"Everything went well you can go inside now", he shook him and said a big congratulations to him.

Now that he was assured of a successful labour,  he found it hard to walk Into the labour room."Thank you lord for this", then he went inside.

He was staring at the bed in suprise and at the amount of babies he was seeing.

"Whose babies are those?", he asked confused.

Melody was fast asleep, the two nurses attending to the babies stared in confusion, before realising he definitely had no idea how many children his wife was carrying.

"They are yours sir", one of the nurses said with a huge smile on her face.

His eye's and mouth where wide open.
"F....ffff......four children at once!!!!!!, this is wonderful! !!!", then he excitedly went to pair at all his lovely children's eyes.

"There are two boys and two girls sir, your wife surely still has no idea how many she gave birth too", the nurse said giggling and happy for this couple.

"That's good to know, she surely suprised me...can't wait to see her face when she does know", he was beaming sparkling white teeth,  he wished he had numerous hands to be able to carry them all at once.

Melody opened her eye's slowly an hour later, she was still feeling very sore and tired, but relieved it was all over. She looked at tolu on the sit beside her with a baby in his hands, and her insides started to melt. " He looks lovely has a father", she thought. Then she heard the wimp of another baby at the other side of her bed. Stunned she looked if there was another woman in the room.

Tolu realising his wife had just woken up came closer to her and was happy to introduce her children.

"Hello love, you are now a proud mother of four healthy children!".

" what!!!!....did you just say four?", she put her palms on her mouth to stop herself, from waking the babies up.

"You sure are a real sharp shooter", she said to tolu giggling and still in shock.

"It's a good thing you have got a lot of money", then she stretched out her hands to feel the embrace of her children, whom tolu gave to her turn by turn.

"I sent plane tickets to your family and claribel, they should all be arriving here by tomorrow morning, since it's a twenty one hour flight from nigeria to vancouver".

Melody's family was happy and shocked at the sight they saw. Tolu didn't tell them how many she had given birth too.

"You young man, would have been in a lot of trouble if you were broke", melodies mum said and everyone laughed heartily.

" I believe this does it for you two", said claribel to her friend melody.

"Absolutely! ! This is definitely the first and last", said melody.

"I support!!" Tolu said has he joined in the discussion.

"The doctors said we are good to go, so I have called a rental to come pick us up".

The house in vancouver which tolu had bought for the purpose of this trip, was eneormous and exotic. The drive way was magnificent,  the grass well trimmed, water fountain was breathtaking and so was the inside of the house, furnished to taste. Melody's mum was busy in the kitchen with Melody's sister 'bolu' and claribel. The house was full of happiness and discussion.

"So when are you going to come back to nigeria with my grandchildren? ", asked Melody's father.

"Hmm...I actually have no idea on when I would sir, honestly speaking I have no plans on going back", tolu replied.

"I am actually thinking of opening a third branch for procam right here in canada".

"Wow!, that's good to hear, at the same time sad, just promise to make time and visit we old folks, and make sure Melody's mum doesn't hear about your earlier plan's".

"Not hear about what?", Melody's mum walked into the huge living room with a questioning look on her face.

Laughing out loud Melody's father said "and you have just been busted my son".

Tolu laughed a little before explaining to his mother inlaw on what he intends doing.

She was staring at him blankly "does melody know about this plan?"

"Yes ma, she is always and would always be the first to know".

"And she agrees? ".

"Yes ma".

"All I would say is you must make sure I see my grandchildren every year, and we would be cool".

Tolu smiled and nodded agreeably before saying ,"we have a done deal on that ma".

Weeks went by and Melody's family left including claribel.

"So according to our deal on the day of our honeymoon trip", melody eyed tolu sheepishly.

"What deal?" Tolu asked innocently

She laughed, " you can't claim a forgetful memory young man...according to the deal on what sex would be born,  looser getting dyper duty".

"Oh that! !", he was smiling now, "well there is a breach in contract, you gave birth to more than one", he was laughing.

"Smart talk...you ain't running from this tho, we both lost twice....so we are going to have to share it evenly",and she was the one now laughing, when she saw the defeated look on his face.

"Nicely said, I would still get you one of these day's".

"We did choose lovely names for them tho", said melody.

"Yeah we did, harrison, kelvin, crystal and berryl....fit's them all perfectly".
