Chapter 13: The Fallen

Meri's Pov

Over the weekend mom took the twins with her and dad back to the kingdom because well its that time of the month again where 1 mom and i are so bipolar that we are dangerous together so yea. 

No not Periods you vile thoughtful humans. Since we are light blue tail mermaids we need a little time with our mates and friends and not with each other.

Pulling off the large arm wrapped around my waist i moved to the bathroom. Tidying up my unruly hair  into a high ponytail for my run. 

Quickly brushing my teeth, I got dressed in a pair of black spandex workout Nike shorts, a white and black Nike sports bra, a white tank with a Nike logo on it with big letters. grabbing the first pair of Trainers i could find in  my messy closet. Shutting the door with a click i skipped down the stairs music ringing in my left ear while the other earbud was tied loosely around my ear. 

" Hey Meris ready? " seeing the girls all ready for our run my smile widened. 

Liv was in a bright colored neon yellow sports bra and black yoga leggings ending just above her calf. 

Taylor was wearing a Nike sports bra and leggings hers to ending just below he knee and before the calf. 

Lain was dressed brightly in a neon pink leggings and black sports bra, her feet had bright colored pink and purple Nike trainers. Her mermaid tattoo poking out just like Tay,Mariana, Marina, and mine. 

Mariana was wearing a blue white and black sports bra with leggings that were mostly see-through. she wore her hair in a messy braid at the back of her head like Marina and Olivia while the rest of us had high ponytails. 

Marina had a pink and blue Nike sports bra and black leggings that had little lines of see through to them. All of us had on trainers beside Taylor because she finally admitted to her self she liked sketchers even though she has like 4 pairs. 

On weeks like this we used to go running in on the beaches or in the forest where Liv can shift and let her wolf out of her cage in the back of her mind. 

" Forest or beach? " i say a little laughter in my tone. " Forest!!" Liv shouts " The she wolf speaks, we shall head for the forest my lady"  Mariana bows at the end of her sentence while the rest of us giggled to Mariana's foolish tendencies. 

" Lets go" Tay groans as i grabbed a pen to write the boys a note telling them where we were going and to start cooking without us because it was already 8 in the morning and school started about an hour ago meaning we would be late but who cares. 

Slamming the front door shut we walked to the edge of the drive way before speeding of in a hurry. 

1 hour later 9:30 Am

letting my breath ease as i sat against the tall elk tree my hair sprang loose form the very sloppy ponytail. Not even thinking anything of i just slipped the little band around my wrist.  

Looking at the forest around me i could tell that my body was exhausted, but i didn't care nor did i want to listen to it. The beating of my heart pounding against my ribs made me feel more soothed as i climbed the tall tree. 

I don't know if it's because i wanted to of because i felt the need to do something wild, something unlike me something more like Silver and the wind the fluid movements that the wind gave carrying the scent of life the scent of wanting and needing the scent i needed and i wanted to follow. 

It was nothing like Aidens scent more like a familiar feeling that made me want to feel that way again the way it felt to be free. Free from everything, from life, from the expectations made for me, From me and my thoughts as much as they drilled it into our brains.

Kill or be killed. Destroy or Be destroyed. Because sometimes you need to know your worth when you give your self, your body, soul, heart completely to someone who doesn't want you, surrendering the pieces of your soul that you never could nor want to get back, But what if the best way not to get your heart broken is by... 

Feeling like i had been released from a trance i grabbed onto the last branch before pulling my body weight up onto it  but before i could get the chance to see above the tree line i did the most cliche thing in a story. I fell....
