some sort of apathetic drug ran through your blood, and it was nice because it was always nice to not feel for a few hours or days or months or forever. staying up past your bedtime is frowned upon but encouraged. they say don't kill the messenger but it's the messengers that say that, so it feels a bit biased. amber alerts on your phone go ignored, it's easy to ignore when it's not you, when you aren't looking for someone. no one told you that flannels don't protect you from the cold and salt doesn't protect you from imaginary ghosts. iron can only be used so much before these demons grow immune to it like a bad case of resistant bacteria, except this is your mind that's corroding you away like fine ashes in the wind, into the sky and into space to never return. maybe you're fading.
