We walked the busy streets of New York until we reached McDonalds.
"This is where you're taking me to lunch?," Samantha asked. I smiled.
"Chase and Cassie are inside waiting," I said and pushed opened the door. She smiled in thanks and walked in.

We spotted Chase and Cassie in a booth which we than walked to and sat down. Samantha grabbed a fry from Cassie's tray and popped it into my mouth.

She glared at Samantha.
"So...how was work?," Cassie asked trying to start a conversation.
"I go back in...an hour," Samantha checked her phone.
"I can walk you back if you want," I piped up.
"Sure," She said. I smiled.

I looked away from Samantha to find Cassie and Chase smirking at us. I rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to Samantha.
"You wanna get out of here?," I asked. She looked at Cassie as if asking for permission.

Cassie nodded and we walked out of McDonalds.

"So...love me by Katy Perry huh?," I said referring to what I heard her singing at work. She rolled her eyes and walked ahead of me.

I cracked a small smile and ran to catch up with her.
"Are you going to respond. You know? In a human way," I spoke.
"What would you like me to say Shawn?," She asked and stopped walking. She turned around to face me.

Her green eyes staring right at my brown eyes.
"Why?," I asked. She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.
"Why what?," She asked.
"You have an interest in music. Why hide it?," I asked.
"Can we not talk about this?," She asked. I sighed.
"What are you hiding?," I asked.
"I'm not hiding anything," She remarked.
"Please...Talk to me," I begged and reached for her hand. She rolled her eyes and gently ripped her hand away from mine.
"Shawn...I've only known you for four days," She countered. I rolled my eyes.
"I want to get to know you," I said.
"Why?," She asked.
"It's been awhile since I had someone to talk to. You're just different from other people that I've met," I answered honestly.
"Probably not a good different," she replied and made her way to the little hill with the great view and sat down. I followed her actions.
"Definitely a good different," I responded and smirked once I saw a light pink colour take over her face.
"You really want to get to know me?," She asked and I nodded.
"Okay..."
"It technically all started sometime in the 5th grade"
"I was new so that meant making new friends"
"I met Cassie and we instantly clicked"
"I brought her home to my house, sorry my mansion, where she could meet my parents"
"So you're rich?," I interrupted her life story.
"Was rich," She corrected.
"Anyway...My parents did not like her. They said she was too poor to be my friend"
"At night I'd sneak out to spend time with Cassie against my parents orders"
" they didn't notice. Our maid, Bianca also my first best friend, helped me sneak out to see Cassie. She also picked me up from school and taught me how to play many instruments. She was my idol"
"Until my parents fired her"
"They found out that she was teaching me about music"
"My parents told her it wasn't her job and basically kicked her out of the house"
"High school was worse"
"Cassie and I were going to the same one so that was a good thing"
"The bad thing however, people found out that I was rich and only wanted to be my friend so they could have my money"
"Boys were worse"
"Some of them would only date me to get money, some of them would beat me until I chocked out a cent or two"
"I met this one guy who I thought loved me for me and not my money...I found out the truth the hard way" by this point Samantha was practically fighting back tears.
"That was my high school experience. Sometime after I graduated I got accepted into NYU. Cassie and I wanted to go to college together so I applied at NYU instead of  Columbia University like my parents wanted"
"I was at Cassie's house when my parents got the letter from NYU"
"They told me to come home and explain why they were holding an acceptance letter from NYU and not Colombia University"
"So I walked home and told them that I wanted to go to NYU"
"My dad told be there had to be another reason"
"I decided to come clean about Cassie. I was eighteen. I didn't need my parents anymore. So I told them about Cassie"
"My dad was furious"
"He cussed at me,beat me until I was barely conscious"
"He told me to apply to Columbia University and to stop hanging out with Cassie who he called a whore who just wanted to use me for my money"
"Then I started to get mad"
"I stood up and I punched him square in the face"
"He fell back and hit his back on the wall leaving a hole"
"I told them that I wasn't going to apply to Columbia University and I wasn't going to abandon Cassie"
"My dad told me I wasn't his daughter, I was a disgrace to the family and to pack my bags and never come back"
"I did what I was told and started looking for a job"
"The music store?," I guessed. She nodded.

Letting a couple of tears fall down her face Samantha looked at me. What I saw broke my heart.

She looked so vulnerable. I did the only thing I could do.

I hugged her. She hugged back.

By this point. The tough Samantha I knew was replaced with weak vulnerable Samantha.

She was crying.
