Stuck in the Rain

Clara P.O.V

I returned Lucario and Greninja to their PokéBalls for them to avoid getting wet. Unfortunately, Ninetales wasn't so lucky. She hissed and barked in annoyance because rain disgusted her.

"What now?" Gary asked.

I looked around and took in my surroundings. Somewhere not far from our location stood a cozy cafe. I pointed at the cafe and said, "What about that place?"

All the boys followed my direction and immediately took off, except Ash. He stayed beside me and tried his best to protect me from the rain, but it didn't help much. I laughed at his actions and followed the three desperate boys. We eventually reached the cafe and entered, its warm scent filling my nose.

Drew sat down on a table near the fireplace. The rest of us followed and took our spot. Ninetales relaxed her body near my feet under the table, Pikachu as well. We stayed silent until our waitress came and took our order. She wouldn't take her eyes off Ash, and to be honest, I got a bit jealous.

After what seemed like a lifetime, I decided to order a brownie with some vanilla ice cream on top. Ash took even longer than I did, and ended up ordering four times as much as I did. The waitress left to my relief, but winked at Ash. I could feel my blood boiling in my veins, my brain screaming the most horrible words ever thought. Why am I acting like this?

I took out my phone and dialed Brock's number. It took three rings for him to pick up.

"Hey Clara, what's up?" he said.

"Hey Brock. I just wanted to check on my Pokémon. Are they wet? Are they okay?" I asked. I could see Ash giving the phone death glares. I giggled.

"They're all fine. Some took shelter inside a cave, and others hid on the trees. Your water Pokémon are really enjoying themselves, though," he trailed off.

I laughed. All my water Pokémon absolutely adored the rain. "It's okay. Thanks Brock!"

"Bye Clara. Take care!" he said before I hung up.

"Who was that?" Ash immediately asked, jealousy clearly visible.

"His name's Brock. He's a Pokémon Breeder that lives in my house. He helps me take care of my Pokémon when I'm gone," I explained. Ash was still not satisfied with my explanation.

"You seriously expect me to take care of 78 Pokémon? I love them and all, but still... Too much work!" I laughed.

They all laughed. "So Clara, what were you doing in the park?" Gary asked.

"Training," I said.

"Oh," he said. Silence overtook us along with awkwardness. "Was Iris with you?" Barry asked.

"What about Dawn?" Gary butted in.

"Don't forget May!" Drew scowled. I shook my head but then realized something I wished I hadn't.

"Oh...my...Arceus," I muttered. "Do you have crushes on my best friends?"

They all turned a dark crimson. I smiled and laughed my head off. They looked at each other, clearly confused at my reaction. I wiped my tears away and squeaked, "I am not going to be invoved in this."

"Please, Clara! You're their best friend! Please!" Gary got on his knees.

"Is the Gary Oak asking for my help?" I asked.

"Yes," he scratched his head. I rolled my eyes and said, "Fine, only because... Huh, I don't know why I'm agreeing to this."

"Because you love us?" Barry grinned.
