The wind whipped her hair, and she breathed in the cold, salty air. The sea beneath was a deeper, darker blue than the Lagoon, and she wondered, though not with fear, what monsters underneath had made it so. There were actual tears in her eyes, though if he asked, she would say that was because of the wind that seemed to blow the skin off her face. They stung, and blurred her vision momentarily, but when it cleared, she saw everything before her with renewed sharpness, so picturesque it took her breath away. The sea was calm and soothing, it's silvery noise adding to the beauty that beheld her. She could smell the wet wood of her boat and hear the screech of the seagulls above, and though on any other day she would have covered her ears and plugged her nose, today she breathed it in even more deeply, heard it with a smile on her face. The mountains seemed so close and yet so far away, their mass of green so deep it had to have been painted, the only color she could see, though she knew these mountains contained a million others. The sun beat down on her boat, intensifying the blue of the sea and the green of the mountains ahead. She could see every fish in the impossibly clear water, every bubble on every warm wave that crashed against her boat, the foam it left behind so white it was blinding. She could see every crack on the wood in her sailboat and every tendril of every white cloud in the sky so impossibly blue she wondered if she was dreaming, and if she was, prayed that no one would wake her up. It was a contrast that fit perfectly together, a picture that couldn't have been thought of even by the most talented painter. The white of the clouds against the baby blue of the sky, the dark blue of the seas against the deep green of the oceans. She laughed and climbed up to the post, still smiling widely. She was finally here.
