In the darkness I know myself
In the darkness I see myself
I see the monster I am slowly becoming
Fighting against it's pull but not succeeding
I see me destroy myself
To kill that beast and to kill my mind
I see my body wither and die
From my neglect and hatred of it
In the darkness I hear myself
I hear the crying
And the pleading for help
I hear the maniacal laughter
That echoes in my cavernous mind
I hear my confusion
Like a tangle of wet rope
In the darkness I don't deceive myself
I know what I am
Who I've been, and who I will become
I know what I've done
To myself, and to everyone else
I know my truth
The lies stain against a clean background
In the darkness I know myself
