When Phil walked into Dan's room, all of the paranoia hit him like a ton of bricks. He worried that he had made the wrong decision, but once he was sat on the dark eyed boy's bed, all of the anxieties left his body. The two sat opposite of each other, not knowing what to say as they remembered doing the same when they first met. Dan and Phil both decided to remake the day that they met; literally starting over. They sat in silence for another ten minutes before Phil decided to finally speak.

"I'm Phil," he smiled awkwardly, Dan staying silent. "Your mum told me that your name is Daniel. I really like that name. It's definitely better than Phillip. What's your middle name? Mine is Michael."

"Don't act like I want you here," Dan snapped, the older boy's face dropping. "I'm sorry. I'm not good with people. James. It's James."

"I like Daniel James," Phil smiled again. "I'm not good with people either. I have been very unlucky with families. My original foster parents were very abusive and the only friend I had, whom I'd had since I was four, was Maizy. My parents attacked me one day and I flooded the whole house somehow. I was only able to save two people, but Maizy was dead before I could get to her. I killed my best friend."

"She overdosed before the flood," Dan randomly said, receiving strange looks. "I know it's weird, but I can sense spirits, and Maizy is telling me that she wanted to be away. She was sent to a place called Elsyum, and she's happier there. I can take you there."

"Not this time, but pretend we did," Phil whispered before going back into character. "She seemed so happy and free. What does she mean when she said that she no longer needed to protect me?"

"I don't know really," Dan admitted, looking into the other boy's eyes. "You have really pretty eyes, Phil."

"You have a pretty smile," Phil returned with a blush. "I know we just met, but I can't sleep alone. Can I sleep in here with you?"

"Isn't that what my mum is for?" Dan raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know why," Phil admitted, "but I feel safer with you; even safer than I felt with Maizy. Please? If not, I'll just go."

"You can sleep in here," Dan gave in, patting the bed beside him.

"Thank you," Phil smiled nervously, going up next to the younger boy. They cuddled up the way they did that night.

"I remember you falling asleep," Dan sighed. "I was never into the love at first sight bullshit, but as I watched you sleep, and listened to your steady heartbeat, I knew that it was real. I revisited Maizy, like she told me to when you weren't around, and she demanded me to keep you safe until we were both in safety. I now know what she meant. I was chosen to protect you until we got here. Now, my only job is to love you. I fucked up, but tell me you felt nothing when we recreated that moment we met."

"I don't know how I feel about any of this," Phil admitted. "I feel like I lost something."

"Let me help you find that," Dan practically begged.

"You're drunk," Phil laughed. "You don't know what you're doing or saying."

"It's been hours since my last drink," Dan argued, "and anxiety that you lost the one you love really sobers you up. Phil, let me in. Let me help you find what is lost. Let me love you, and only you, like I was supposed to."

"Daniel..." Phil whispered, pulling away from the younger boy and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Tell me, Phil," Dan cried. "Just tell me you want to go. Say it to my face. Look me in the eyes and tell me you want to leave this. Say that you want me to leave you alone. Tell me you don't love me. Tell me it's over. Look at me and tell me this is all over and I'll let you be. If you want me to let you go, I will. It'll hurt like hell, but it'd hurt less than you making me believe I have another chance. If you don't want me anymore then... then just leave. Just go! I can't bear this..."
