Emory's P.O.V

It's the 20th of June, senior year is drawing to a close, end of year prom is tomorrow and then graduation is the day after.

Fearing the future is natural, at least that's what they tell me. It's my bodies natural mechanisms forcing me to plan ahead. But when your life is here and now it's hard to think about the future.

I stare across the car to the blonde hair, brown eyed boy I call my boyfriend.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I question

"There not worth a penny" He replies

"Come on let me inside the Azkaban mind that is Shor Mallory" He looks at me confused obviously not understanding my reference. "The inescapable prison, under lock and key. I'm saying your thought can never escape, you keep them locked up"

"Fine Em, I'm thinking how beautiful it is that no matter the distance the sun will always shine on the moon, allowing it to find it's true beauty"

"That's beautiful Shor, so poetic"

"What about you my girl, what are your priceless thoughts?"

"The future, our future. I mean do we have one?"

"Well, if I get in I'm going to Aerosim Flight Academy in Florida, and if you get in your going to the University of Iowa, its a 17 hour and 51-minute drive and a 2 hour and 10-minute flight, but an expensive one. We'll fly out to see one another whenever we can afford it and we will face time and I mean it's only 4 years after that I can go anywhere with my job, you'll be a successful writer who can also work anywhere, we will find somewhere to live settle in together and you know the rest" He explains.

"And what if I don't get in I mean most people don't"

"You will" Shor pushes

"You know I also applied to Full sail university in Florida. If I don't get into UI, I could always follow you?"

"Stop thinking of a second option, your going to UI even if you have to wait till next semester and apply again," He says matter of factly and continues to stare out the car window again.

The sight from the lookout is the most beautiful view and tonight is the full moon, the only light is the luminescence it produces.

"I love you, Shor Mallory"

"And I you Emory James," Shor then pulls me in for a kiss.

I sit at my bag window waiting for the mail man to ride past on his bike.

1 hour.

2 hours.

3 hours.

It's not 10pm and finally I see the post man riding down the street.

4 houses down.

3 houses down.

2 houses down.

Finally he's next door I grab my dressing gown and run down the stairs stumbling a little on the last step, flinging myself out the door.

"Hi little lady, this is the James house right?"

"Yes, yes it is!"

"Here you go" he says handing me my mail and riding away.

I run back inside pulling out the big envelope from UI and throwing the rest of the mail on the kitchen bench.

I sit down on the couch and just as I'm about to rip open the letter my mind is flooded with thoughts.

What if I don't get in?
