Chapter 1 | A Forgetful Decade

10 years ago...

There once arose a warrior called Hitokiri Battousai, along with a female warrior called Chimamire no Jasumin.

Felling men with their bloodstained blades, the two closed the turbulent Bakumatsu Era and slashed open the age known as Meiji.

With tragic events, blood, betrayal and despair, the two warriors were forced to part ways and run in their own paths.

Then they both vanished...

And with the flow of years,

They became legends.

A pair of brown eyes shot open, pulling Mei from her deep slumber. She would often dream of her past, memories of the Revolution would always flash before her very eyes. The day where she was seperated from Kenshin, was the only day she would never forget.

A deep and overwhelming loneliness had occupied her ever since he left; of course, she knew it was better for him, but alas, until this day she could not help but miss him. He was the only person she had left, and yet the War took him away from her.

She was upset, yes - but she never did have the energy to express it. All she prayed for was to find him, to reunite with him once again. Even after 10 years, she dared not to forgot him. Kenshin was the only person who knew her better than anyone else.

And being so far away from him, agitated her immensely. Kenshin was the equivalent to her brother-

"No, wait, that's weird." She interrupted herself. Nevertheless, she had continued her melodramatic narration of her own feelings.

'I gotta find him, I just do.'

Was the sentence that kept Mei on her feet. She daily repeated this to herself, determined to find Kenshin Himura and embrace him once again.

Being 26 years of age, Mei is now a waitress working in the famous  restaurant located in Tokyo, Akabeko.

She left Katsūra's clan a few years after the War ended, feeling that she has done enough, and had her own life to lead, as well as a person to find.

Being a waitress by day, Mei is also a member of the Tokyo Police, catching criminals every night along with her close friend, Sumiko Takara.

Sumiko, an ex-ninja in the Kyoto War, was the equivalent of Mei's sister. Being 27 years of age and having a dark nature due to her rough past, Sumiko's ice slowly started melting ever since she met Mei. The dark-haired ninja has quite an interesting personality as well.

She can be sweet, she can be shy, she can be quite the motherly type, but at the same time you wouldn't want to mess with her - Sumiko Takara can and will accept if you pick a fight with her.

And truth be told, it wouldn't be pretty.

However, Mei absolutely adores her. The two young women met a few years back. Once they were acquainted, they started learning more and more about each other. Sumiko was even surprised to know that Mei was once called The Bloody Jasmine - The legendary female hitokiri.
