Upon meeting Sakura, the gang decided to help the girl and her mother as best they can. They would guard the mother and daughter as they perform their next show which is due in a few days.
Kenshin, Mei, Kaoru, Sumiko, Sanosuke and Yahiko all happily decided this, since they didn't want Sakura and her mother to face any problems during the show.
A few days after the meeting, Sakura happily declared the gang as her friends and invited them to have a meal with her one day, as thanks to their generosity and kindness.

Mei was at work in the restaurant, since she had a shift today. It wasn't as busy as usual, which means more conversations for Tae and Mei. "So, you're helping them with the show?" Tae asked as Mei explained the situation to her.
"Not with the show, but we're going to guard them. Just in case those robbers come and cause problems." Mei said as she tied her hair up, "Well, at least there'll be people who work with the Police such as you and Sumiko." Tae smiled.
Mei smiled at her employer. Just as she was about to reply to her comment, Tsubame dashed in the doors of the Akabeko with a worried look. "Mei!" She exclaimed. 'Please don't tell me something went wrong, the show is tomorrow...!' The brunette thought to herself.
"Tsubame-chan...! What's wrong?" Mei asked worriedly. "It's Sakura...she's sick."
"What!?"
"She has a terrible fever, and won't be able to act in the show."
"Damn it...!" Mei mumbled to herself, "Where is she?"
"In Dr. Gensai's clinic."
And with that, Mei ran out the restaurant and rushed to the Clinic. 'Why is it that Tsubame only comes with bad news!?' Mei sighed as she reached the clinic.
Once she got inside, only a few steps led her to Sakura's room. The brunette gently went inside and found her; A towel on her head and a large amount of tissues next to her.
"M-Mei-San..." Sakura said weakly as she coughed, "Sakura-chan! What happened? Are you alright?" Mei asked as she sat next to her. "The D-Doctor said that I was poisoned, I won't be able to act..."
"Don't apologise, Sakura-chan! You can do the show another time!"
"No...! We have to do it tomorrow, or else...they'll kill my mother..." Sakura whispered the last part. "Please, you'll have to do it without me."
"Wh-What!? Sakura, we can't-"
"Please...! Please, you have to...I know you guys can..."
"...But, none of us are experienced enough..."
"It doesn't need experience. You're all so funny just the way you are, just...act naturally."
Mei eventually complied to the girl's wish, but breaking this to the gang won't be easy.

"Great. Just great. Now we're gonna have to perform!?" Sanosuke exclaimed as he crossed his arms under his chest, "I know. Embarrassing, isn't it?" Mei said as she blushed with embarrassment.
"That it is..." Kenshin sighed, also blushing with embarrassment. "Well, we're gonna have to do it! We can't let that poor girl and her mother down!"
"You're right, Kaoru. But we gotta think of a whole bunch of acts..." Sumiko placed her index finger and thumb under her chin. "Me and you will do that! Mei, Kenshin, Yahiko and Sanosuke will be our performers!" Kaoru exclaimed.
