"Mei!?"
Kenshin exclaimed as he saw the brunette known as Mei right before his eyes, "...Kenshin." Mei replied with a hint of sadness in her voice.
Both not knowing what to do, they found themselves staring into each other's eyes. Mei was lost deeply in his soft amethyst eyes , she didn't bother break the gaze. "Mei..." Kenshin said softly.
Soon, Mei was brought back to her senses. She immediately broke their gaze and glared at the Rurouni, causing him to raise his brows in a sad manner. She got up, dusting her kimono as she felt tears form in her eyes.
Turning on her heel, she hadn't said a word to Kenshin and walked away. Kenshin being Kenshin, he couldn't live with the guilt anymore. "Mei, wait!" He exclaimed.
He took hold of her arm, trying to make her face him. "Let go of me, Kenshin!!" Mei tried to pry him off of her. "Listen to me, that you must!" He begged.
"Kenshin, please let me g--" She was cut off by a warm embrace. Kenshin brought her in his arms as he rested his chin on her head. Mei tried to escape his embrace, but to no avail.
"Kenshin...please..." She said tearfully.
"I'm so sorry, that I am." Kenshin adjusted in the hug. The two were in the middle of a crowd, receiving weird looks from everyone.
"Kenshin...you idiot."

Amongst the crowd, were the fighter-for-hire and ex-ninja - In other words, Sumiko and Sanosuke. They had witnessed the two share a warm embrace, and for that they couldn't be happier. "Ya think they're good now?" Asked Sanosuke.
Sumiko bit her nail, "Knowing Mei, she wouldn't forgive him that easily. She's just distracted," The ninja deducted. "Hm, guess you're right. Well, we gotta make 'Em friends again!"
Sanosuke exclaimed, "That's not easy, you know. Mei's not gonna talk to him, like I said she's just distracted at the moment. But once she's brought back to her senses, she won't be near him." Sumiko said sadly.
The two watched behind the scene as Kenshin and Mei hugged in the middle of a crowd. Sumiko and Sanosuke were intent, and very upset that they weren't on a good friendship status.
Sumiko being the considerate woman she is, decided it was her personal mission to reunite Kenshin and Mei again.
"Ideas?" Asked Sumiko. Sanosuke shook his head, "No. You?" He asked. "I think I might just have the solution." She smirked, and Sanosuke knowing Sumiko, he knew she was up to no good.

'What are you doing? Are you hugging him? He does NOT deserve to be hugged! After all the despair he's brought you, you decide to HUG HIM!?' Mei thought to herself, snapping back to reality as she widened her eyes and pushed Kenshin away.
"ARGH! Just stop it, Kenshin! Leave me alone!" The brunette exclaimed, "Mei! You must listen to me, that you must!"
Just like the night of Mei's tragic confession - She was running away, and he was following her. "I don't wanna hear whatever it is you have to say! Just GO Kenshin!"
In the background, Sumiko and Sanosuke had witnessed everything, and they soon decided to interfere.
"Hey hey hey! Look who it is, Sumiko!" Sanosuke exclaimed with a toothy smile, "Our dear Kenshin and Mei! What a wonderful surprise!" The dark haired woman said.
Kenshin and Mei turned around to find the two figures standing in front of them, "Oh, Sano, Miss Sumiko. Greetings. What brings you here?" Kenshin asks with a soft expression.
