The next morning, Piper and Nat are waiting for me to wake up. However, both of them look like they're childhood dog just died. I immediately sat up on the cot, and studied their concerned looks.

"What?! What happened? Is Nora alright?" I asked jumping to my feet.

I grab my gear and storm off to the hospital, where the doctor is waiting outside. I approach him and he meets my gaze with a look of failure. I dropped to my knees and punch the ground.

"Can I see her?" I asked, pulling my hand out of the dirt.

"In your state of being, sir. That would be highly Ill advised. The last thing we need is you going on a rampage." The doctor replied, stepping back a bit.

"Can you at least see to that she gets a proper burial?" I ask.

"It's the least I could do for you, sir." He responds, heading back into the hospital.

Piper finally approaches, resting her hand on my shoulder. She has that nurturing vibe to her right now and even though given the current situation, I finally calm down. I get up and head off to the dugout inn. There I order a double scotch and ask the barkeep what he knows about Synths.

"The only thing I know, is that they're built by the institute and they look just you and me." He responds, before moving to help another customer.

"Hey 'L', my sister and I know how it feels. We lost our mother a few years back to them damn things. And this time it's become personal for you. I've given Nat a few provisions to last her long enough in my absence. I've decided, the institute has caused enough damage before, but now they've just crossed the line." Piper says, extending her hand. "I'm coming with you, and together... We'll take the institute down, once and for all."

"Thanks Piper, got one question for you, though. When do we leave?" I respond, taking her hand.

She smiles and hands me a vault-tec lunchbox, it weighs about the same as the one from the vault. I open it up and sure enough, inside were 60 rolls of bottle caps.

"What... What is this Piper?" I ask, counting the rolls.

"A young gentleman stopped by earlier, while you were asleep. He didn't say who he was but he dropped this off, along with this note." Piper responded.

I kindly took the note and read over it. This note set me on edge. I don't like being watched but, they must be friendly. It's the same handwriting as the one from the vault.

"Who do you think is watching you?" Asked Piper.

"I don't know but I have a vague hunch." I replied, double checking the letters.

I went back to the weapons vendors and purchased every last round of ammunition they had. Which gave me over eight hundred rounds for each weapon.

"I have one request before we hunt down this... Institute. I'd like to return home and see just exactly what I might be leaving behind." I spoke, getting ready to head out of Diamond City.

"Fair enough, I'm ready when you are." Piper responds.
