Leaving The Vault

As the elevator starts it's assendance, the entrance covering begins to open, releasing a nice, but gentle and cooling breeze into the shaft. There was something else, something wet, which added to the coolness of the air... Rain. It was raining, not a heavy downpour, nor was it misty, it was just a normal rain shower.

As we drew closer to the top, our hairand shoes were soaked. However, our Vault suits were, surprisingly and comfortingly, dry. Our bags however, weren't so lucky. Finally reaching the top, the elevator stops gently and an airtight seal forms around the entrance. Looking around, even though it was refreshing, the rain made it difficult to tell exactly which way was north.

"Lucien, dear, are we going to talk about the fact that our son is missing?" Nora asked, trying to wring the water out of her hair but failing epically at it.

"Honey, back down there, I noticed three distinctively different set of shoe prints, one female and two males. One however the shoe print resembled that of a small teenager or young adult as the souls of the shoes were all but non-existent." I responded, trying to piece everything together.

She took a moment to think about what I said before she spoke again.

"So, what your telling me, is that our son, who couldn't fend for himself alone, is no longer an infant?" She said, finally breaking the silence.

"What I'm saying is if the stasis pods malfunctioned when they released us, then there's a possibility that they malfunctioned before. I found two of the other stasis occupants close to the elevator, not too far from the door. Their shoes matched the ones I found in front of our pod." I responded, finally getting her to calm down.

"So our pod wasn't the only one to malfunction, well that's reassuring. At least he'll be out there some where, hopefully. We need to head back to Sanctuary, back home. I hope Codsworth is alright." Nora added.

"We'll make it our second priority, our first priority right now is getting the fuck out of this rain. If I remember correctly, Diamond City shouldn't be that far from here. The only problem is, where is here exactly?" I said, raising a very difficult question.

Suddenly, as if they had minds of their own, the pip-boys activated. The map appears on screen showing that we're facing in the Northeast direction. The map also shows us that Diamond City, or whatever it is near us, is towards our East and approximately 92.12 meters away from us.

"Well, these things do come in handy, I wonder what else they can do?" Nora asked, checking the applications on it.

"I don't know, but we can explore it's functions later, after we get out of the rain. We'll be no good to each other or Shaun if we're both sick... Or dead!" I responded.

After getting all of our gear and stuff packed up, we headed off towards what we knew as Diamond City.
