After dealing with the deathclaws, Piper and I search the apartment taking whatever we thought was important enough. I can't help but occasionally finding myself staring at Piper. I don't know if she's ever noticed, but if she has, she isn't showing it.
We finish scavenging parts and items from the apartment and making our way through the building. We then make our way back onto the street. As I open the door, I take point providing cover and surveillance while Piper covers our back.
We continue moving as soon as the coast is clear, keeping to the shadows. We eventually come to a truck trailer that has a padlock on it, which is strange. I grab my knife and a couple of bobby pins and get to work picking the lock. I break the first bobby pin, but the second one...
"Got it." I say, smiling as the lock pops open.
I, silently as possible, open the trailer door. Inside is riddled with ammo boxes and wooden crates. We also find a weapons crate with a missile launcher and about ten missiles for it. Piper and I debated who would carry, and eventually, both agreeing that my aim was deadlier, that I would carry it. Im beginning to really love this dufflebag.
Suddenly something catches Piper's attention.
"Fang, we have company." Piper says, grabbing her shotgun.
I hop out of the trailer and look under it trying to see if I can get a look at what's coming. Then I hear something, the sound of what sounds like giant insect wings. I slide to the left side of the trailer and peek around the corner.
"I can't tell exactly what it is, but it's big." I say, mumbling to myself.
As if the armor and pip-boy could read my thoughts, a recticle drops from the helmet and suddenly I have the information of the insects in front of me.
"Um... Piper, what the hell is going on?" I ask showing her my helmet.
"It's seems to be sir, that you have activated the VATS system. A special system that lets you see the stats and vitals of your target." Piper replies.
I switch to my combat rifle and take aim. I have a three round burst setup on the rifle and I pull the trigger. But all I seem to do was piss the thing off.
"Back in the trailer. Now. Check the bag to see if we have any mines." I say pulling the trigger again.
"We have a couple fragmentation mines and a bottlecap mine." Piper says, hopping back into the trailer.
" Good hand 'em here." I say, following her into the trailer. I shut the door behind me and take the mines.
I set em up at the edge of the door. I then grab some rope from my bag and tie it to one of the door rollers. I then set up a pulley system. We then take our position at the back of the truck and I pull the trailer door open. The VATS system identified the insects as bloodbugs. They were basically giant, mutated mosquitoes. Shielded behind the crates and containers, the mines explode, splattering a couple of the bugs, leaving the other two crippled.
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see Piper throw something. My instincts kick in and I take cover. The object explodes, blowing the ass end of the trailer apart, killing the last of the bugs.
