A doctor walks in and I regain my composure as I wipe the tears from my eyes. He looks at me and opens his mouth to tell me something.

"Well, Mr. Way, it looks like you will be able to go home soon. All you gotta do is make sure that leg doesn't get injured again." The doctors words lift me up a little, knowing I won't be trapped here for very much longer.

"Ok, thank you doctor." I tell him just before he looks at Alex grimly, and leaves the room. After he leaves I turn to Alex. "Babe do you hear that? I can go home. See Anna, my parents explain what the fuck happened." I say excitedly. She smiles softly at me and we lay back down with each other. I wrap my arms around her stomach and pull her as close as I can. She grabs my hand and laces our fingers together. I move one hand up and start playing with her hair bored. I push it out of the way, lean over and kiss her on the cheek. She smiles after I pull away to lay back down. "I love you, baby." The words feel right.

"I love you too, babe. I'm excited for the last year I have left, because I'm going to spend it with you." The words hurt so much it feels like my heart is being crushed. I wanna tell her she'll be fine, but I don't know if she will be.

"I'm scared baby. I don't want you to die. I can't lose you. I'm gonna get you that surgery, get that tumour out, and then we'll raise a family together." The end of my sentence is strong. My voice returns and helps me make my point. "You will not die if I have a say in it."

"Babe, no. I-I," she stutters looking for the right words, "I can't let you. You'd be spending thousands of dollars to get it removed, you'd lose your car."

"It's trashed anyway, besides I can have nothing, still have you and I'd be happy."
