I love you. The words ring out in my ears as we walk down the street. All I can do is stand there speechless. Finally I open my mouth and spit out a few words.
"Wait, really?" I ask through a few stutters. I stare her in the eyes.
"Yeah, I mean you've always just been a great guy and person to me, and I guess I love guys that do that, y'know." The words fall from her lips and all I can think about is finally having a chance with someone I love.
"So, do you wanna like, date me then?" I ask her with a very, very, shy voice. Quietly I await her to answer.
"Took you long enough, but yes I will." As soon as the words process in my mind, the biggest smile I've had in years crosses my face and I grab her picking her up as I hug her. I look into her ocean blue eyes and I can only think about how much I love her. I want to move my head forward and lean in for a kiss, but it's too early for that.
"I'm so happy right now." The words escape my lips and she just looks at me and smiles. Her smile is so beautiful I have to smile back. Here we are two seniors in high school just staring at each other smiling. "So, wanna get dinner Saturday?" I ask her quickly, this time the question has confident undertones.
"What time, are you picking me up?"
"Well, maybe I'll swing by around three, we can hang out for awhile, then head to dinner." i feel so confident saying this I forget how introverted I am, and just talk with the strong voice I always had, but never let loose.
"That would be perfect, I'll see you then babe." The name hits me like a wave, and I smile at it.
"See you then, baby."
